Joe has dementia but he has had this pathological need to play one-upsmanship for decades. It is the mark of an insecure person.
Just like Obeyme and the KKKlintons.
“Joe has dementia but he has had this pathological need to play one-upsmanship for decades. It is the mark of an insecure person.”
I think many people to show empathy try and show a comparison of experiences to display that empathy. Not a one-upmanship—but trying to relate the pain someone is going through even though its not on the same level...
For example—The fire in Paradise—We were not personally affected, but I would say in truth that we could see the fire plum over our tree line and that it rained big bits of ash onto our property—thus a connection to that horrible disaster even though we were not physically affected.
I would not say that that example is the mark of insecurity, but relating a connection (perhaps tenuous), to show emapthy...
another example might be—a tornado—people who were not affected might say, “Oh yes, we saw it—it was roaring like a frieght train and the cows were spinning the in the sky...”
I think many folks do the same
The question is—where is that line that is a pathological one upmanship and why do some people feel the need to practice that?
Just a question and observation...I heard the resident yesterday and found it quite cringe worthy.
Yeah but he’s RICH!!!
