The US Supreme Court on Friday denied Jack Smith’s request for a ruling on Trump’s immunity argument.
Jack Smith last Monday asked the US Supreme Court to weigh in on Trump’s immunity claims.
President Trump on Wednesday urged the US Supreme Court to reject Jack Smith’s request to expedite the ruling on his immunity argument.
Trump’s lawyers argued that Trump is immune from federal prosecution for alleged ‘crimes’ committed while he served as US President.

I just love this paragraph
Just to add to what others have said, this is a partial victory for the Trump team in that it halts the expedited schedule Jack Smith was seeking. This makes it very unlikely that the case will be heard by the original March 2024 date. The decision on presidential immunity will now have to go through the normal appeals process which will take time and will likely push any trial date past next year’s election.

Thanks...I kind of gathered this would delay a trial start date so that was confirmed by the replies.
Smith wanted an early conviction to interfere with the primary and the general election.
This ruling will likely prevent that.
Comprehend that.
Nah, it was always going to trial in March. And now it will. He will be convicted by St Patricks Day.
I came here to check on this, because the headlines I’m being fed from mainstream media are chortling: “Supreme Court refuses to hear Trump’s case for immunity! Har har de-har! Take that orange man!”
Nope, Chutkan placed everything on hold and nothing moves forward until she says. Its the holiday, she will not rule until next week at the earliest, or possibly until next year. I believe the question of immunity now needs to go to the appeals court. Delay is good.
Chutkan had no choice but to put the trial on hold, as Trumps appeal to the next higher court(don't remember which one), above Chutkan, once they took the case, automatically, takes the case out of her hands. She can do absolutely nothing, until the higher court rules. That is why Jack Smith appealed to the US Supreme Court, trying to jump ahead of the next higher court, so, he could keep the trial on schedule for March 4th.

napalm sticks to migrants!!
You are predicting (hoping?) that Trump will be convicted before the election, but a wiser point of view would take into account that the schedules of court proceedings are notoriously difficult to predict.

Good deal! Thanks for the clarification!
It needs to go through the court of appeals and then the USSC before the trial even begins.
I know you never Trumpers and Jack Smith wanted the trial to occur in March so that Trump can't campaign for Super Tuesday and all the other important primaries, but that's very much in doubt now.
Oh, I am a never trumper but not because of this stuff. I think this stuff is stupid and dangerous.
We’ll see how this turns out.
