Pro sports is an important element in the strategy of distracting Americans from what’s really going on.
Step 1 of being rich: learn how not to pay for stuff. As long as politicians are willing to whore themselves out for high profile companies stadiums, and factories, and offices, will be be built with public funds. Want it to stop? Stop electing whores.
The players and teams make enough money that they have no need for taxpayer money. If the taxpayers are required to pay for the stadiums, anyone who can prove that they are taxpayers should get free admission.

And the rest of Virginia certainly doesn’t want their hard-earned tax dollars going to pay for sports complexes in Northern Virginia because we need potholes filled bridges built and many other projects that we pay good money for but can’t seem to get on anybody’s schedule.... but talk about a Sports Stadium and suddenly money magically appears is complete abd totalitarian BS.
The issue is the way that the pro leagues are all closed shops (no promotion relegation) so the only way other cities can get a pro team is by “stealing’ and existing team, this means current teams have leverage to use against the city.
eg. in England there is no way that Liverpool FC are going to threaten to move to another city.
If building and operating a professional sports stadium or arena were profitable, the teams would insist on building it themselves.
I see the Kansas City Royals are on that list. Their record last season: 56-106, last in their division again for the third or fourth year in a row and they want 2.5 billion taxpayer dollars for a new stadium. How about getting some players who are actually capable of playing major league baseball before you want money?
