They actually made some good points and had experience where when things are tough, there are people who have things that alcohol can buy. I don’t recall if they were in a 3rd world country, natural disaster or what but shared that having a supply kept them and their family fed. It made a lot of sense to me but I haven’t stockpiled any - or what I had was lost in a boating accident.

Rush used to say that it’s pretty common for every generation to think this way in terms of history. That we’re on the edge of a massive cliff. And, while there have been times with more trouble and tribulation, what is going on today does seem epic, IMO.

I am ‘hoping’ that this is just a result of being better informed, having more avenues of communication and the rapidity with which news and opinions can transit the earth today.

All I DO know today is that mainstream journalism is just as patently evil as the Democrat leadership we have, AND that our lickspittle RINO Congress really couldn’t give a damn about real America. They are only there for the greed, power and fawning they can attain. Getting elected to Congress is like getting a free lifetime membership at the best country club around and having tenured status.

Modern preaching of the Gospel has become a caricature of that which is contained in the scriptures. Many preachers leave the impression that if you simply repeat a prayer, like a magical incantation, you are guaranteed eternal life with no other conditions. Others add baptism or other requirements but only present Jesus as Savior and not as Lord.

And even if we hear the true Gospel message we are predisposed (myself included) to only hear the parts we want to hear. But there are many, many scriptures that show that true believers and followers of Christ MUST go through suffering, tribulation, adversity, persecution, and various trials and hardships. We MUST follow in Christ’s steps.

The encouragement and consolation of Christ is NOT that we will avoid all hardships or that they will be minimal, but that He will be with us. He will comfort us. He will strengthen us. He will give us the ability to persevere in all these hardships which would certainly destroy us if left to our own abilities.

As for the Chinese angle, Dali = "great judge". I happened upon that while reading that page about the Li/Lee surname, but that was for another reason entirely. So, not at all looking for "Dali", but there it was. Da + li.

On Tuesday, March 26, Dali hit the support pillar for the [Francis Scott] Key Bridge and down went the bridge, ~ 1:30 in the morning. (O say can you see by the dawn's early light..)
