I Know an average old school Democrat about 80-ish. He’s not a dumb person IQ wise and is middle class successful in life.

A lot of old people are like him. They're "tolerant" but not "woke". So they seem "normal".

I think they vote Democrat out of habit.

I agree with you - this guy I know is stuck in the past.

So, his thoughts and “beliefs/opinions” are stuck there, too.

It’s like the circumstances he grew up in are welded
to him.

But I’ll add this: my parents had such early beliefs.

But in the ‘50s they voted for Eisenhower.

They didn’t vote Dem the rest of their lives.
