Bengals 24, Chiefs 19
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Bengals scored three second half touchdowns - two on big plays from Peter Warrick's - and the Bengals upset previously undefeated Kansas City 24-19 this afternoon at Paul Brown Stadium.
The Bengals are now in first place in the AFC North. Miami defeated Baltimore 9-6 in overtime. The Bengals and Ravens are both 5-5, but the Bengals defeated Baltimore in October.
Against the Chiefs, Warrick had a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown and then caught a 77-yard touchdown pass from Jon Kitna.
Rookie fullback Jeremi Johnson had a 13-yard catch and run for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The star of the game was the Bengals defense, which held the Chiefs to 19 points - 12.9 points below the league-leading 31.9 point average.
Tailback Rudi Johnson ran for 165 yards on 22 carries, his third 100-yard game in four starts. He had a career long 54-yard run in the fourth quarter after KC had closed to 24-19.
The attendance was a new Bengals record 64,923.
The game was tied at 3 at the half. The Chiefs had trailed twice and not been tied in 10 games. Kansas City trailed against Denver and Green Bay.
The Bengals dominated the first half. They had the ball for 20:05, compared to 9:55 for the Chiefs.
The Bengals also had a 191-85 edge in total yards in the first half. They had a 12-4 edge in first downs.
Yet it was tied.
After the Bengals botched the end of their last drive, resulting in a hurried miss of a 48-yard field goal by Shayne Graham. Graham had earlier given the Bengals a 3-0 lead on a 27-yard field goal with 6:18 remaining in the second quarter.
The Bengals drove 74 yards on 12 plays to set up the field goal. The big play was a 38-yard run by Rudi Johnson that gave the Bengals a first down at the Kansas City 11-yard line.
Graham's miss came with 57 seconds remaining, and the Chiefs used the rest of the clock to tie the score. They moved 43 yards in eight plays to set up Morten Andersen's 37-yard field goal on the final play of the half.

Yipee for my bengals....chiefs are no longer undefeated....in a related story, in Miami i hear that Bob Grise, Paul Warfield, Larry Czonka and Mercury Morris are celebrated their legacy with a cold one.

Kansas City Chiefs nee Dallas Texans.
This is the reason I was against naming Houston's team the Texans.

Damn it all, I wanted the Chiefs to win. I'm so sick and tired of them tired old Dolphins always rubbing it in people's faces they were then ONE and only undefeated team in NFL history.

First place? Now I have to go check the standings...
Shades of Icky!

The Bengals and the Ravens are tied for 1st at 5-5. Since the bengals beat the Ravens when they played, technically the Bengals are in first place.
