you won't
you say you won't
you say only
and always
and "just you"
but
I know
someday
you will

someday
you'll play
the odds
and still take
your chances
but the ace
up your sleeve
keeps me from
caring more
than I should

ante up
play another hand
I'm game

card playing
is not for the
feint of hearts

i understand
the pottery
puppeted
past
of insurrection
and negletced
introspection

Temptations' Wait

In weakest moments
sighs excite and stir
the silence with
wonderment of when
we can be close
to whisper to one another

and breath short intakes
near your face not touching

Nervous hands moving
over hair sweet smelling
soft silky expensive
and rare as the moments
of breathing as one in silence

temptation did not wait for me
but i pursued it vigorously
i stalked and pleaded
begged and cried
chased until tempation died

poor temptation had no chance
to tempt one headed for romance
the pitfalls loomed
and wagers placed
but all my cards had just one face

and so I overcame my foe
temptation had to nowhere to go
since I determined
to lose all ground
Temptation now could not to be found

One breath, one dance, one awkward smile
temptation sadly watched a while
saw the redundancy
of his job description
and left me alone with my ambition

:O)

Temptation got the best of me
now that I am free you see
there's nothing out there
tempting me
what a dilemma can you see?

:-)

she rode
a grey charger
of green desire
mounted akwardly
unbalanced
in stirrups
of gilded ambition
and celedon
self-surrvival

stubborn heart
unyielding fate
inconvenient
altered state

has left me in
a softer night
yet put my heart
in awful plight

and still I hope

In my heart I hold
the hope that
you and I will
be we...

It's not in the stars
I fear
it's something in you
that holds you
away...

If left to me
I would be
with you today..

#63 Broken Reed

The reed bends in
obedience to the indigo
sky repeating in the
stalk planted water.
Its back-broken defiant
flash defines the angle
of indifference
in sun-fixed radiance,
and dark iteration.

A golden suture of
urgent embroidery laid
in rebellious thread
upon the somber silk
reflections of wavering
regrets, joins the quick
and the still.
The rushy rustle of the wind
now ripples the soul
that breaks and stitches
and breaks again.

In marshy patches
along side
country roads
the cattail grows
Thick in water
strong as iron
flexible as silk
in a gentle breeze
are we soldiers
of the marsh
standing tall
and uniform
or are we lowly
road side weeds
cursed by some
and revered by others
a basket makers dream
cattails by the stream

Harsh wind fills the incredible void
Of sites once filled with good things

The old man enters the stage
I remember the good old days

When summer breezes cooled us
We laughed and spoke of tomorrow

Such promise we had inside of us
Intervention came, not to be thus

So the Winter returns to me
Showing me my proper place

I will contend with this old man
The promises made will be kept

No winter storm, or cruel wind
Can stop me, not now or ever

You can count on me brother
I love you forever, I miss you

Red winged blackbird sings
in the patch it finds;
rules spring
from its reeded throne
and thinks it's king
of all it salutes.
So we, perch
on the ambience
of what is and could be
stigmataed, with the living
scarlet of our arrogance
on our wings and display
explainations of a sort that
suffice for the text of
the either/or of
casual questions
regarding the definition
of what is the reason for
any singing

Hope capitalises
upon the essential
meaning of the first
person.

its a begining, i
wouldn't deny.

Whirling in moonlight
we held hands
my feelings stunned
by your charm
my entranced nights
moving in a haze
and once you loved me

Moonlight hazes
the edges of the
obdurate, and
softens the boundaries
of the immoderate
could I have loved
you in the immediate
if you were not
in passion so expedient?

i once
remarked
on the red
of arizona
in the company
comfortable
condescension
of a lady
who knew
her phoenix
and wasn't
impressed

Do you think she knew
her goose was cooked?
Or her phoenix was fried
sorry I am silly, but
it's the way this hit me...

I'll do better next time:-)

Moonlight becomes
you in black lace
and chiffon
your hard edges
dissipate
twilight makes
your skin glow
and there is no
one on the beach
but you and the pipers
