The Guild 3-3-2004 Political Ghost Story
Post Gazette ^ | Dennis Roddy

Edited on 04/13/2004 2:35:34 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

It happened at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner of the Allegheny County Republican Party, March 20, 1991, at the William Penn Hotel.

At the time the first George Bush was still flush with victory in the Persian Gulf, and dinnergoers chortled over a videotaped presentation of assorted senate Democrats backpedaling in the wake of a war they'd opposed. Ted Kennedy was shown. News clips were shown. But for Kerry, the speaker simply read the two letters, to everyone's amazement.

I know a lot of you don't subscribe to the NY Times. But there's a blockbuster article just posted on their website which I assume will lead their front page tomorrow.

It's about a hugely successful intelligence effort and how we tracked al Queda operatives through some tiny Swiss cell phone chips. It involved many countries cooperating in surveillance operations. The operation is winding down now because the terrorists have changed their methods. This doesn't sound like a leak. It's very well sourced.

It gave me goosebumps reading it.

I thought we read that Teresa's sons were helping out their stepfather's campaign, but have we seen them anywhere?

That is her youngest son Chris (age 30) in #8 on the right. He and Vanessa Kerry are very active in the campaign and head some college group for Kerry. Her oldest son, John Heinz Jr., shuns the limelight and is, in fact, a teacher and has a**gasp** job and is married with a kid. The middle son, Andre, heads some environmental group so I am sure he will show up at some point.

The New York Times had an article/editorial/barf inducing article today, touting Bill Clinton for VP. I almost lost my lunch. He could fix lots of stuff like the economy, Middle East, gay marriage, jobs, and the stock market because he has experience. I was at my desk, or I would have lost it and yelled at the screen. The writer just waved off the 22nd amendment too, apparently he thinks that is OK if Billy boy is the VP and becomes president again, the 22nd amendment doesn't count.

Article XXII to the Constitution says:
But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.
Dems would argue that "ineligible" only refers to the initial age and citizenship requirements.

Looks like another case ripe for Dem chicanery...all the way to the Supreme Court.

Woo Hoo! Karen Hughes is back facing the cameras on GWB's behalf. I'm watching her now on Fox & Friends. I hope this is a sign she's going to be around for the whole campaign.

Cellphones have played a major role in the constant jousting between terrorists and intelligence agencies. In their requests for more investigative powers, Attorney General John Ashcroft and other officials have repeatedly cited the importance of monitoring portable phones.

But, but... that violates their privacy rights! That evil John Ascroft just wants to suppress people's rights! /sarcasm

Btw, Karen Hughs is back on the job! :-)

Oops, didn't see your post before I hit the button. So glad Karen is back in the saddle again!

John Pepe Le Pew Kerry came to Orlando yesterday and I was able to watch most of the rally on a local news station. Bob Graham droned on for at least a half hour and then Kerry spoke so long that the station broke away ( this is NOT a conservative type station). I laughed because it's not like there's a whole bunch of news happening around here so why pull out? heh heh heh!

And Pepe is a dummy... It's Bike Week in Daytona Beach, which is just an hour drive from Orlando, but Pepe didn't cruise by and check things out. Nothing, zip, zero, nada word about Bike Week and Kerry is supposed to be a big motorcycle guy.

Fool, a visit to Bike Week could have been almost as big an event as President Bush's stop at the Nascar race. In 2003, an estimated 500,000 - 600,000 people came for Bike Week.

Good morning all.

I see John Edwards is out? Well sorta. He suspended his run for president.

Out here everyone is talking about the new Bush ads. Did you know that Bush is exploiting 911 because he has a picture of the American flag over the World Trade center? Oh my gosh!

And!!! He has Laura Bush doing one of his ads? Oh my Gosh! How could he?

Now let me see.................If it were the Clintons we won't be so upset over theses ads, now would we?

Great to see all of you.

But, if he went to Bike Week, would he have to go topless?

There's a missing element in the critiques of Kerry. Has anyone heard any discussion of his lack of private sector experience? Far as I know, he's never earned a private paycheck (so Kennedyesque!). The Bushies should ask whether he's ever had to worry about overzealous regulators...ever struggled to meet a payroll...has he ever even had FICA deducted from a paycheck?

This is the kind of thing that rolls around in the back of people's minds.

Page Six:

ONE of the first things Sen. John Kerry will do now that he has won de facto control of the party is to oust Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe, say top insiders in the Kerry campaign.

McAuliffe — who was hand-picked by Bill Clinton and has remained under the influence of Sen. Hillary Clinton — wasn't helpful to the Kerry cause. In fact, he seemed to be secretly supporting the Clintons' favorite son, Gen. Wesley Clark, until Clark crashed and burned.

"The Kerry people can't stand McAuliffe. They want their own man in charge of the party, someone they can trust," one top Democrat told us yesterday.

McAuliffe — a multimillionaire who grew up in Syracuse and started his first business, McAuliffe Driveway Maintenance, when he was 14 — has announced he'll step down, win or lose, at the end of the year.

But Kerry won't wait that long, sources say.

"Kerry deserves someone who is 100 percent loyal to him, not someone who has been subservient to the Clintons for years," a source reasons.

Political analysts say Sen. Clinton, who has her eye on a White House race in 2008, would have a better chance four years from now if Bush were re-elected. If Kerry is elected this year, he will most likely be renominated in 2008, and she probably wouldn't be able to run for president until 2112, when it might be too late.

Another Democrat reports: "If Kerry wants to dump McAuliffe today, he could do it in a heartbeat, but it doesn't make sense. They don't need to fire him. He's been neutralized. They don't need to create more dissension with a public beheading."

McAuliffe, a phenomenal fund-raiser, was quoted yesterday, in an oddly flattering piece in the New York Observer, as bragging about accelerating the primary season so the Democrats would settle on a candidate early in the year.

"Even my biggest critics are saying this was a good idea," McAuliffe said. "Bill Kristol, talking on Fox, called me a genius."

Sources say no matter who is named DNC chairman, the Kerry strategy will be masterminded by campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill, media strategist Bob Shrum and master field operative Michael Whouley.

Whouley — an almost mythical Boston native who so shuns the spotlight that there are no photos of him on the Internet — is credited with Kerry's stunning victory in Iowa.

Someone should ask Katie:

Come September 11th this year, we'll be in the midst of a presidential campaign. Are you saying the media will avoid talking about, showing images of, that horrific day simply because it might remind Americans of what we're facing?

I was just wondering about Kerry's 'work experience' the other day... hmmmmmm.

I knew Islam was peculiar, to say the least, but I didn't know it taught that it was an imposter, not Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. Just incredible. LittleGreenFootballs reports:

In all the controversy and acrimony over Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, people seem to be missing the fact that there is one religion that currently promotes the “Jews killed Christ” libel—and it isn’t Christianity: Jews as “Christ-Killers” in Islam.

Specifically, Quran 4:157-158 iterates, “That they [i.e., the Jews] said in boast, “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not ... Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise...

Ibn Kathir (d. 1373), a pre-eminent Muslim historian, theologian, and Qur’anic commentator, provides this elaboration of Qur’an 4:157-158, which emphasizes the Jews overall perfidy, especially their gloating (but unknowingly “false”) claim to have killed Jesus:

“When Allah sent Isa (Jesus) with proofs and guidance, the Jews — may Allah’s curses, anger, torment, and punishment be upon them — envied him because of his prophethood and obvious miracles ... the Jews defied him ... and tried their best to harm him. Allah’s Prophet Isa (Jesus) could not live in any one city for long and he had to travel often with his mother ... Even so, the Jews were not satisfied, and they went to the King of Damascus at that time a Greek polytheist who worshipped stars. They told him there was a man ... misguiding and dividing the people in Jerusalem and stirring unrest among the king’s subjects. The king became angry and wrote to his deputy in Jerusalem to arrest the rebel leader, stop him from causing unrest, crucify him and make him wear a crown of thorns.

When the king’s deputy in Jersusalem received these orders, he went with some Jews to the house that Isa (Jesus) was residing in, and he was with twelve, thirteen, or seventeen of his companions. That day was a Friday, in the evening. They surrounded Isa (Jesus) in the house, and when he felt that they would soon enter the house or that he would sooner or later have to leave it, he said to his companions, ‘Who volunteers to be made to look like me, for which he will be my companion in Paradise?’A young man volunteered, but Isa (Jesus) thought that he was too young. He asked the question a second time and third time, each time the young man volunteering, prompting Isa (Jesus) to say, ‘Well, then you will be that man.’ Allah made the young man look exactly like Isa (Jesus), while a hole opened in the roof of the house, and Isa (Jesus) was made to sleep and ascended to heaven while asleep ...

When Isa (Jesus) ascended, those who were in the house came out. When those surrounding the house saw the man who looked like Isa (Jesus), they thought that he was Isa (Jesus). So they took him at night, crucified him and placed a crown of thorns on his head. The Jews boasted that they killed Isa (Jesus) and some Christians accepted their false claim due to their ignorance and lack of reason.

In his commentary on the related Qur’anic verse 4:159, “And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them.”

....Are we supposed to believe that if President Bush didn't images of 9/11 that Katie and crew wouldn't be asking, why didn't you show or mention 9/11, isn't that an important day for Americans to remember?

Can scum be transparent?

Teresa seems to have some pent-up anger. Cole slaw (or cold slop, as Mr. M says) wrestling may be just the ticket to relieve her stress.
