When I grew up...
Moms where still wearing aprons around the kitchen.
Ladies wore hats and white gloves to church.
When you went to your friends house after school, the mom would answer the door and you would ask politely, "Can Mary come out to play Mrs. Smith?"

Pot Roast on Sunday at 2pm with the whole family.
On real hot summer days you could sit in the middle of the road and pop tar bubbles with your friends, no cars went by, only cars where with the dads who where all at work.
The forest preserves were safe enough for a group of 5 or 6 kids under 10 years old to go into and pitch a tent in and play all day.

Now YOU'RE talking about my childhood. My adders:
Once in a blue moon, Dad would sit me in his lap, and let me steer the Valiant down the street.
After Sunday dinner we would go sit on the Davenport in the parlor, or maybe we would go sit on the veranda.
When you picked up the phone, you might hear the neighbors talking.

Ladies wore hats and white gloves to church. LOL
My aunt used to bobbie-pin Kleenex to my head to go to church, because I didn't have a hat. :-)

We also played kickball in the street, slept out in the yard overnight, or walked or rode our bikes 3 or 4 miles to the pool where we spent the ENTIRE day.

My sisters and I wore white gloves and hats to church when we were real little, I still remember that. We had tiny purses too. I used to fill my purse with rocks and hit boys with it. ;)
