Head handed to him? I don't think so.

There are a 100 things I wish he would have said, most importantly that the so called major allies that Kerry harps on -- France, Russians (and to a lesser degree the Germans) were in fact Saddam's allies not the US's in this whole affair. They are the reason the US went to war....they betrayed the US in UN process and emboldened Saddam.

However, Bush as President could not say those, and MANY more, things. As a challenger he could have, but he still has to run our foreign policy why running for reelection.

He was hamstrung by BEING PRESIDENT. This was start of round one and the effects from this debate will change day to day until the round two, the next debate. In the mean time, there are clips of Kerry (such as saying we have to pass the global test to strike at terrorists) that will get huge play between now and the next debate...so we shall see.

" He was hamstrung by BEING PRESIDENT. "

Absolutley pitiful excuse. The man (President) has knowledge that his opponent has NO clue about. There are ways to phrase such intel without jeapordizing national security. President Bush keeps talking in generalitis...it's time for some specifics to count Kerry's B.S.
