I think Kerry and Edwards were making sure that EVERY last person in the USA knew that CHeney had a gay daughter, in order to swing redneck homophobes to vote Dem. The Dems know, as do we, that there are people ignorant enough to vote dem just because Cheney, a repub, has a gay daughter. There ARE people who feel that strongly.
And sadly, some of them are right here on FR.
I heard someone who felt very strongly on a local talk radio call in show yesterday. He stated that he and his wife were both Christians and were very off-put by BUSH's remark about not knowing if someone chooses homosexuality. The caller's position was that homosexuality is a sin and everyone has a choice about whether or not to commit a sin.
He went on to remark that both he and his wife talked about it and decided they would still vote for Bush because Bush was more likely to take pro-life stands than Kerry. My impression, though, was that this was someone who was a hairs breadth away from deciding not to vote for Bush (probably by not voting at all) because BUSH didn't condemn homosexuality as strongly as they would have liked (based on their faith).
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with such beliefs, I'm just agreeing with the poster who makes the argument that some do feel strongly enough about this issue to consider it in their vote. (Whereas my vote is based more on who will fighting terror rather than appease it.)
