I am tearful with admiration for this highest character example of a man, who has taken a battery of criticism and attacks as he climbed this mountain to a successful completion, and planted the US flag at the top of it.

You are so very right about this!!! Thanks for the ping! :-)

I just love hearing from old friends!!! :-)

I remember thinking, during the build-up to the 2000 election, whats a nice guy like Bush doing in a race like this? This man could live out the rest of his days in cozy comfort as governor of Texas, and then retire. Why would he subject himself to this? I thought the same thing this week as I watched him defend his actions against Iraq, to a press that was below-the-belting him at every opportunity. I watched him gird his loins and stiffen lips for the blows, and keep coming back, and smile.

Bravery. Discipline. In bold and block letters.

But even as I wondered, I knew why. He does it for me and you, and our children. The whole world's children, and his own. He has a chance, if he can just take it to the top, to make a difference in this world, in this country. Make us all safer, freer, and a little cozy comfortable. When it is all done, he should have a special familiar address, besides Mr. President.

If they call George Washington the father of this country, they should title George Bush - Compadre.
