Okay, what would you do? A friend just showed up at our house because her monther-in-law is at her house. She does not want to go home as long as her in-laws are there. She simply will not be in the same house with her in-laws, even if it is her own house.
But now she is in our house. What to do? I don't think I've ever seen a situation like this. It is not a case of her in-laws having done anything to her. She just does not like them.
What to do?

Politely excuse yourself, go into the kitchen, call the mother-in-law and invite her over for cocktails. Might be good for a few laughs.

Tell her to grow up, and send her home. Unless, of course, her MIL is an axe murderess, then call the police.

Well......if she is a "friend" why not let her stay there a couple days. I would. She might have the mother-in-law from hell.

As a rule, I dislike giving people advice. It's best that they should decide for themselves. Sometimes you can talk things over, but finally people need to make up their own minds.
It's not your job to straighten out your friend's marriage either. So you might talk it over with her, but she has to work this out for herself, just as you do.
If she's a good friend and you don't want to lose her, you might put up with it for a reasonable time. When are her inlaws leaving? New Year's?

That is a good plan.....when the mother-in-law shows up...the friend will leave.

How good a friend is she???????Work together, do some things together outside of work. Think I was the second one she called. The other person was not home.

...though I would add that she should probably get the friend half-drunk before the mother-in-law shows up. That would make it more interesting.

You're asking advice on an extremely complex and sensitive social situation from a bunch of anonymous strangers?
What are you going to do, make columns on a blank piece of paper for "Kick her out" and "Give her the guest room", add up the total votes for each, and then decide?
OK, then, put me down for "Give her the guest room."

Then give her the phone number of the Holiday Inn.
