I just dashed this off real quick, having been meaning to do so for several days, and had meant to be able to sit here for a bit and respond to any inquiries regarding my message and its content, but unfortunately I unexpectedly am called away.
I'll be back later this evening, though, to address any concerns. This is one of the best political sites on the web, and I'd like to keep it that way. Only a select few are guilty of what I've alleged, but as the saying goes, one proverbial rotten apple spoils the barrel.
Cheers!

When I think an individual poster is being inappropriate, I've found it much more effective to confront the specific individual at the time and place where I see it happening. Posting a vanity to chastise an entire forum for the perceived incivility of a few is destined to provoke flames, ridicule and zot bait.

I hide the word Rat in the term DemonRat. That way you can't get annoyed.

Democrats only got called 'Rats after they raised a stink over an ad (years ago) that they said lingered on the word "RATS" in BUREAUCRATS.
Seems that they forgot that same ending was in DemocRATS.
MurryMom is the resident Democrat here on FR and she continues to use Repug and Repuke when talking on FR.

I agree with you. We were discussing this on another thread. That, and people being accused of being trolls and disruptors just for expressing a different viewpoint, however politely.
It's getting to be a turn-off and I don't recall it being this bad a year ago.

DemonRats are DemonRats. Funny how it's always the liberals that call for civility when they're losing the war?

After what the RATS have done in King County, Washington State to get a 'win' for Gregroire, that term is apprpriate.

Well, thank goodness you've returned! I'm sure all will be right again with the forum now that you're here to patrol. (/sarcasm)
A bit of advice -- you might wait til at least your 1 year anniversary as a FReeper before waxing poetic about how "it used to be around here." Trust me, pal, you ain't seen nothin'.
