What's with the Stars tonight?
Vanity | Jan 12th, 2005

Okay: Don't mean to sound like Ms Tinfoil, but I was just outside and tonight, here in San Diego the sky is clear as a bell and the stars are as bright as crystals but they look exceptionally low in the sky, almost like a ceiling that has shrunk.

Anybody notice the same thing?

Well, enjoy it, I don't see many stars where I live because of the ocean haze but I was amazed at what I miss when I was up in Lone Pine.

We were up about 6000 feet, the sky was filled with stars, I have never seen that many stars in the sky in my life and they looked real close.

We hike Whitney Portal every July. Camp at Tuttle Creek and fish the streams. I love watching the wind blow.

Weird! Wish I had seen it. I've read the explanation and I still don't understand it! I mean, I've seen the moon low on the horizon before and it didn't make the stars to be low in the sky.

When is this supposed to happen again, anyhoo?

Uranus as it appears to human eyes.

Very interesting. Here's a similar picture, except it's Uranus as it appears to this one human's eyes.

There once was a FReeper, LibWhacker
New York's Senator, he'd like to smack her
Yes, he hates Democrats
Thinks they're all no-good rats
And America-hating fudge-packers!
