Clive Owen to Be Officially Announced as James Bond Next Week
MI6 UK ^ | 3.29.05 | JP

Posted on 03/29/2005 10:50:48 AM PST by gopwinsin04

Following it's earlier claim that Clive Owen has been confirmed as the 6th James Bond 007, IESB.com has released the evidence behind the headline.

After a few questions about his current movie 'Sin City' he was asked about the rumours regarding James Bond.

'Yes or no to Bond?' He said 'I will be busy for awhile' while nodding his head yes, and repeated it with a grin and a smile.

The report continued as saying that the reporter was then contacted by colleague that works with Clive and stated that Bond was a done deal and that an official announcement in the trades was being brokered.

One other inside source is telling the site to expect an official announcement next week after the release of 'Sin City.'

I wonder if they would ever change the emphasis of the flicks from special effects to thighter drama and truer to the book.

Holy Cow...is that Liberty Valance's granddaughter?

What happened to her right one?

Out of alignment?

PC game "Privateer 2: The Darkening"

Great game, I wish it would install and run on Windows XP instead of DOS.

Should've picked David Boreanaz or Hugh Jackman.

In the next movie, Bond infiltrates and brings down a subversive ring of middle aged British housewives trafficking in BB guns thereby making England's streets safe for hoodlums.

Jackman I could see, but Boreanaz? Hey, I like the guy, but a vampire Bond won't work. :^)

Yea, if they still had to just rely on the American market the Bond series would have died a long time ago. It reminds me of Star Trek. The original was the best and it just kept getting worse and worse.

Didn't think so. Would've ruined your mystique.

I think he'd be about as good as Timothy Dalton (who did a superb job as 007, IMO - far better than Roger Moore or George Lazenby, and I'd say Dalton was slightly better than Pierce Brosnan).

An American Bond just wouldn't work, IMHO. I liked Moore, and Dalton was OK (liked The Living Daylights).

The one thing about Bond is you've got to have a presence. When you walk into a room, everyone knows it. Connery had it. Moore sorta did. IMHO Brosnan did. Dalton just couldn't pull it off as much.

The best Doc Holiday I've seen. He played that part with ice in his veins, as was appropriate.

Incidentally, my favorite Bond was George Lazenby. He was the most physical Bond; when he threw a punch, it looked real

When he took a punch it looked real as well. I agree. He was a perfect Bond.

I used to consider myself as a good indicator of what would sell at the cinema and what wouldn't. Also, I've been a real Bond fan since my frined brought Casino Royale to school and gave it to me to read. With all that in mind, plus the fact that't I coming up to 60 years old,

I'm tired of the special effect, falling out of airplanes, versions of the flicks.

I think if there were a Bond today he'd be a british Jack Bauer (24) with a tuxedo and more realistic time frames.

Since I'm addicted I take any taste I can get for now.

The new Bonds keep getting wimpier and wimpier. I'm waiting for the "bond guy" to replace the bond girl ...

They might as well go the way of Battlestar Galactica, and replace the leading male with a female character.
