Craig says he's not going to be next James Bond London, April 6 (PTI): British actor Daniel Craig has said he was not going to be the next James Bond, following a flurry of stories today claiming he had won the part.
A spokeswoman for the star of the hit gangster movie 'Layer Cake' denied the reports but wouldn't comment further. Eon Productions, which makes the Bond movies, also refused to comment.
This means that fellow British actor Clive Owen may still be in the running to take over from Pierce Brosnan. Other names mentioned to play the 007 role have included Eric Bana, Jude Law, Heath Ledger, Ewan McGregor, Dougray Scott and Australian Hugh Jackman.
The next James Bond movie, Casino Royale, is being directed by Martin Campbell, who first took the helm on Goldeneye in 1995.
The Sun today claimed that Craig had been offered a three-film deal by producer Barbara Broccoli.
Totally wrong for the role, but yummy nonetheless.
Ok:
Craig- wrong for Bond, but perfect for a Bond Villain.
Bana - wrong for Bond, but perfect for "Jack Ryan, Jr." if "Teeth of the Tiger" movie ever gets made (maybe a tad too old, but still...).
Law - gives me the creeps. He'll always be "Gigalo Joe."
Ledger - Too... fluffy. Should stick with teeny-bopper movies.
McGregor - totally wrong for Bond. Totally wrong.
Scott - should do another movie soon - just not Bond
Jackman - has possibilities. May be a bit scruffy for Bond.
Hands-down Clive.
Yup.
Roger that ~ $75 mil for three years work ~ hell ~ a guy could almost retire. :):)
