The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/21/2005 6:44:57 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning!!

Steve told me last night that for the rest of this semester, he won't be able to come home early. Told me that he's going to have to start studying on Sundays. That's normal, it's this way every end of the semester, so although I'm gonna miss him, this is kinda exciting...At least he'll have no more "classes" to go to after this semester is over.

He's taking Environmental Law right now and he really likes the instructor...apparently, while going over something in her class, she read something about the world being billions of years old. Under her breath she said "Oh, I don't know if I believe that..." No one caught it but Steve and he's been quietly impressed with her ever since.

Not ask him anything...just touch base, so to speak and see if he tells me anything...

Nice to see you again, libarian!

I took the day off, so I'm off to the vet to have Scruffy's leg checked out again. The Rimadyl (for arthritis) has helped a wee bit, but he still isn't using his rear leg properly.

He's my first baby, even though he's a dog. *grin* But at 11 years old, he deserves to have the best care I can possibly give him.

Be back soon!

Good to hear that Steve is in the home stretch! I know he's looking forward to it getting done!

We lived in Tallahassee for four years while SSQ got his Post Hole Digger at Florida State, and when we left the place, he never wanted to see it again! LOL!! I enjoyed our time there; it was a pretty town, but we have different memories of it.

Do contact the guy in the unit who arranged the tour for you. Let him know we're thinking about them and remembering them in prayer. I know he'll be pleased to hear from you. You might even tell him what you shared with us about your feelings about their not flying over your house anymore. Let him know how safe it made the jedis feel. I know he and his buddies will feel good about having done that.

Oh, I understand that our new Holy Father likes his Bavarian and German beers.

Hmmm...am I being called to convert?

I'm still seriesly thinking how to start a "Brothers and Brews Bible Study." Something along the concept of the Inklings, in feel if not in format.

Even thought we could meet at one of those "pints and wings" establishments and enjoy God's creations.

"Theology on Tap"

They have some gatherings like that in the Worcester Diocese, but they are more young adult gatherings for both men and women. Sounds like a great place to meet possible mates!

I feel so much better since I know what I'm going to do...

Here's an idea...

I could bake a batch...just a small batch, maybe a couple dozen, cookies and send them to the guy that wrote me...tell him that my understanding is that they may be deployed soon...and to not forget to let me know if they do, so I can send the whole group cookies now and then.

What do you think? I know it's better than crying...but sometimes, I just gotta cry. LOL

Well, I ain't makin' any promises!

I'm making a loaf of bread in my machine. Thought about your bread thread...this summer, I'm going to get back to the "art" of making bread...this is just so utilitarian.
