Paris Hilton has ditched Nicole Richie from the fourth series of their Simple Life TV show - after a joke went wrong.
The blonde heiress had invited friends round to watch a video of her Saturday Night Live performance - but prankster Nicole reportedly put on Paris' infamous sex tape instead.
After a massive row, the former best friends are said to be completely ignoring each other. Paris said: "It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did."
The 24-year-old hotel millionaire is now drawing up a short-list of possible pals for the programme - which is said to include Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen and Kimberley Stewart.
A spokesperson said no decision had been made on the new MTV series. Paris and Nicole, the adopted daughter of singing legend Lionel Richie, were best known for their mischievous antics on the show.
Last month, the pair - who were supposed to be working at a US airport - shocked onlookers as they emptied travellers' suitcases and tried on their bras and knickers.
The pampered It-girls had been cleaning aircraft toilets when they went into the luggage hold and began dressing up in the racy underwear.
Nicole is now launching a solo singing career and promises her debut album will hit the shelves later this year.
She said: "It's a mixture of rock and soul and a little bit of dance as well."

Interesting, so that's what happened. Not that I really care, but had heard it on the radio when they were doing their celebrity news bit.
I actually think the prank is funny, and it's not like Paris didn't know her boyfriend was taping her.
The preponderance of people like this in the National news culture are as apt a sign as any of complete and utter cultural decline.
Yes, she knew he was taping her; but I doubt she expected him to sell it to the public at large. And I also doubt she expected her 'friend', Richie, to humilate her like that at a party. Paris isn't a talent, she has paid a pretty steep price for trusting the wrong 'boyfriend'; but I think she expected a bare minimum of respect from her girl 'friend'. This act was a pretty major betrayal of the trust one has with a friend.
Consider, Paris has made Richie fairly wealthy, just by association. To have her publically humilate her says more about Richie's character than anything else. Do you think anyone would know about Richie if not for Paris? Do you think Richie would ever have had the opportunities she got, if not for Paris? But, more importantly, would you want a 'friend' like that?
I wish I could have seen her face when that tape started playing! Awww man!

That "sex tape" is the only thing that made her a star! What did she ever do prior to the "sex tape"?

Paris Hilton is no different than Teddy Kennedy when you think about it.
Especially when it was the sex tape that brought her to stardom. The more sleazy act that a person commits, the faster they climb to stardom. It certainly speaks about the morality of Americans. We're sliding down that slippery slope into destruction.

Your statement was that you thought it was funny. I pointed out that if you threw a party; and your best friend put on a video of your most humiliating experience for the entertainment of your guests; that would be an ex-best friend.
Like you, I don't care what Paris and Nicole Richie do. I don't really respect either one, for their only accomplishement in life is managing to be born into wealth. Lord knows I wish I were. However, a betrayal by a friend hurts; whether you a spoiled rich #&*$; or poor as a church mouse.
