The estate tax is there to make jealous middle and low classers feel better. It doesn't actually take a lot of money away from rich people. Rich people have a boat load of ways to get around it.
It ends up punishing 1st generation "wealth" by tearing up family created businesses a heck of a lot more than it tears down multi-generational mega-bucks.

OK - so how does any of that address his argument?
This tax is a pure class warfare envy play. It impedes small business, because businesses often have to be sold off to pay the taxman upon the death of a founder.
The last I looked, the heirs of the Vanderbilts and the Carnegies don't have any huge impact on the U.S. financial scene. The wealth tends to be spread out and diluted over several generations. For the government to take some huge share as the wealth passes generations simply becuase you are envious of, and desirous of, that wealth, is not a good reason.
You should examine yourself, and your motives, more carefully.
Not that I care, but there's got to be more to the split story.

Why is that bizarre? Nicole was the daughter of a musician friend of Ritchie's. For whatever reason they couldn't take care of Nicole so Ritchie adopted her and raised her as his own. That's not bizarre. That's beautiful.
Isn't it enough that Jenna Jamison has a best-selling book, aptly entitled, "HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORN STAR?" The fact it's a best seller says alot about this country. We won't even go into the fact that it's a Regan book.
estate tax...hmmm this is wealth redistribution in action..without getting a bunch of burocrats in on the game ...and without depriving those heirs willing to invest and develope their inherited resources to an even greater degree-which they can do, if they choose, far more effectively than any government jobs program could. Paris Hilton is suppporting oodles of folks as she rips her way through her millions.
Compared to a great percentage of America, my worries are nothing. My worries truly are insignificant to most people. Thanks for the well wishes; that is very gracious of you, you are a kind person.
But, *IF* I were the heir to unlimited income; there would be no 'toy', no 'home' and no limits to what I could do for myself, or my loved ones. Cruises, extended trips, resorts, new cars, large tracts of land for the dream home(s), sauna, gym, pool, and the financial ability to help my family out; who wouldn't want that?

Wow, your "wishlist" is LONG! :) I'd give to St. Jude Cancer Research Hospital, pay off the homes of our children, take care of others in both our familes, give to our church and then the rest????? Get a couple horses, buy our son and daughter a big truck, go back and buy the house I grew up in by the sea and then go back there every year for a month or so. :)

5) No, I have no inheritance coming that would in any way be affected by current estate tax law. I'm simply able to recognize that the law as currently configured is simply a "tax the hated, evil rich" class envy play. And that it destoys a lot of small businesses.
Usually, we find Democrats and Socialists supporting such government grabs of private wealth, and not Conservatives.
