Hmmm-I thought that might be the case-guess I'll have to pan-cook some bacon and make the corn for hubby one night next week.

Why not kill two birds with one stone? Try this.

Place 8-10 strips of bacon on a rack over a half-sheet pan and place into a COLD oven. Turn the oven on to 400. When the oven reaches temperature set the timer for 15 minutes.

When done, remove the pan and allow to cool. You will have perfectly flat bacon strips that are prefect for BLT sandwiches and beautifully clear bacon grease that you can pour off. If you want more flavor, a light scrape of the pan will remove the fond.
