Fox says Bush & Frist told DeWeenie to make a deal because they didn't have the votes.
See Fox News, Politics sidebar, "Behind the scenes"
(Don't know how to link to video)
I think its true on all accounts, and from that information, I think the deal was a good idea. We get 3 judges automatically, and if they piss us off, we backstab em and Nuke the crap out of them anyway

Won't play. You have to create an .asx file & link to it or some such crap.
Thanks anyway.
I heard the same thing on Fox today. Graham and Dewine were selected to work the deal.
Sorry about that here it is:

How'd you do that?
With this kind of thing there's no way to tell what's real and what's misinformation.
Bravo Sierra!
Dewine SAID he did it for the President because Frist didn't have the votes. No verification.
Day sez dat?...............
If that is true, then it is kind of funny because they set it up so that John Quisling McCainnedy is taking all the heat and conservative anger. I couldn't wish it on a nicer guy and it will likely cost him the 2008 nomination if he tries to run.
Dey dold da weeny do make da deel.
That sounds about right.
If true, it means that Lindsay Graham or Arlen Specter, or both, were no votes as well as the rest of the Gang of 7 (excluding DeWine)
If Graham and DeWine were yes votes that went along, that means that someone outside the Gang of 7 was a no.
If true I bet its the same seven dwarfs who backstabbed us. At least it reveals the traitors and moves the goal further than it would have moved otherwise.
If it's true, then McCain was indeed set up to be the fall guy as you say. I don't like McCain either but that wasn't very nice of GWB.
It was Frist, not GWB. GWB could care less about the internal affairs of the Senate.
