This thread came at a good time - I was just arguing with my mentor about whether or not FreeRepublic was a place I should be allowed to join. Finding this thread has convinced him.
I'm 13, nearly 14, and I live in Australia. Until two years ago I was in state schools and I got really, really sick of the teachers ramming their left wing philosophies down my throat. When I was in year six, my class teacher did classes on why the war in Iraq was wrong - actually did classes on it in school. I was only a kid, but it really made me really mad that a teacher could get away with that. For high school (which starts when you are 12 here) my parents decided to send me to a private school, and it's a lot better but it still gets annoying.
Currently my plans are to survive school without being brainwashed and then maybe go into the navy - I'd like to go to ADFA and I want to be the first female commanding officer of a submarine. I know I probably won't make that goal, but I think you should aim as high as possible, because then even if you fall short you wind up doing something worth doing.
I have to deal with not having many friends, because a lot of the things that interest other kids don't interest me much.
You go, Girl....
Well, I'm an old fart, but my kid is a young conservative, although not a freeper. It wouldn't be cool to be on mom's chat board, and besides, there's too much reading here.
Asphalt, tell your mentor not to worry, there's basically nothing but nice people here. Politics, yes, but also humor, heart felt prayers, and some pretty good music threads too. (Just don't show him last night's "drinking songs tribute" on the Freeper canteen.) Anybody who is not nice get's "zotted" almost immediately.
And, there's lot's of great Australian freepers here too. As we say: Australia! Australia! Australia! We Love Ya!
Hmm, I signed up the day I turned 14, so I guess you have me beat. Australia...I have a couple friends from Australia, what city?
Freeper from Australia ping!
