On being mean to the Africans (and others)
August 3, 2005 | self / vanity

I've been reading about and watching stories about all the Africans who are suffering from various things.

This won't be nice, but I am increasingly reaching the point where I don't care about their problems.

If they want to reproduce like rabbits, engage in homosexual sex, and misappropriate the money we give them, then the heck with them.

I think it's time for them to take responsibility for what they do. That would be the best thing.

Homosexual sex is frowned-upon in most of Africa. Not quite sure what that barb means.

I agree....why is the US and other countries so fixed on this?
I am not trying to be cold hearted..I believe God expects wealthier countries to help the poor and sick, but why is it everyone expects the US to always pick up the bill?
We have our own sick and dieing here and need that money. These people are grown ups and we have been trying to help them for years and years. If they can't stop the cycle...it's no longer our problem!!!
Past time to shut off the money faucet. Besides...I personally have always believed it gets to their government and stops. All we are funding is their officials to live in million dollar homes..

I agree with you. Perhaps Bill Clinton who loves Africa can move over there and take over their government and take hollywood with him to help clean up the Mess. I don't know what they are doing with the millions in aid. We need to start taking care of our own. They had a piece on Niger last night, it's sad but I really don't think any amount of money is going to clean up the wide spread disease. I too am tired of being the banker. Take care of America first.

Perhaps you'd care to explain the extraordinarily high HIV infection rate in Africa some other way. IV drug use?

To be quite blunt, that's due to "dry" sex and the fact that men have relations with a lot of women in addition to their wives. Not sure why you think that gays are the primary vector of transmission there.

I don't agree.

From what little I know about HIV transmission, it is very easy for males to pass it to other males and to other females. Very difficult for females to pass it to males, and almost impossible for females to pass it to other females.

Adding that up with the the African infection rate, I get that there is a lot more male-to-male contact going on there than we know about.

In any event, it is the result of choices they are making. It's not like they don't know.

I could give them a sex-ed lecture in less than an hour. It wouldn't take a five billion dollar grant. A couple million would cover it all, including travel.

I would also add that they should not bring babies into this world until they are prepared to care of them.
