Just think of all the worthless druggies who's lives were saved by going to prison when they refused to straighten out.

Why is it government's business to force "worthless druggies" to "straighten out"? And why should I have to pay taxes toward that end?

Chong would probably died already without law enforcement intervention.

What a load of nonsense. His health was in no more danger than a tobacco smoker's ... should we imprison them too?

Because the druggies were breaking the law and attempting to grow their criminality base. Drying out in Jail is just a side benefit. :-)
