What was your first car?

1st car was a Road Runner I bought in 1983

I'm still driving my first car, an '89 Honda Accord 5-speed! My mom refused to give a 16-year-old a new car, so she got the new Accord, and I had to learn to drive a stick (a difficult thing to do in hilly East Tennessee).

Eight years later at 190,000 miles, it's been resuscitated from the dead at least 3 times. My dad and I refuse to let it go. Both of us are convinced that the '89 and '90 Accord models will be classics one day. It runs great and is amazingly efficient.

My friends like to bug me about when I'll get a new car. I always reply, "When Honda brings back flip-up headlights."

LOL when I taught my daughters to drive I used hi-way 61 from Maynardville to Andersonville. I told them if you can drive a car on this road you can drive anywhere. My first wife learned to drive on that road to. I had her driving a 5 speed Toyota :>}

I told ntnychik that the summer after my Freshman year at college my Dad had bought a little Crosley. He bought it to convert into a golfcart, lol, but I drove it around that summer. Itty bitty car!

Three (3) obscure Crosley facts:

1 - The Crosley's first engines were welded-up sheet metal blocks


2 - The Crosley Hotshot SS sports car's placed highly Sebring whipping many larger engined "true" sports cars

3 - Our ag teacher / FFA Advisor had a Crosley Coupe DeThrill

I did a search but still am not sure just what one we had. It wasn't that really cute fancy one I saw, it was real 'boxy' looking.

The first car we bought our twin daughters was a tan Pacer! I thought it was so cute, they said their friends called it the 'pregnant bubble', lol.
