Why this is is because the people now hired in development and who are producing include many homosexuals...there's a certian congestion today among filmmaking/television of homosexuals and to their view, that's the world.

Thus, they're cranking out the perpetually-adolescent-male-homosexual-fare, among them "Queer Eye..." and others in development, as you describe.

The industry today is an extremely biased, prejudiced, swayed group of people who are intolerant of decency on the air.

"24 is always good! Season 5 begins, next Sunday."

Ditto that! Just watch it one time, you will be hooked! The most exciting show ever made for television, ever!

If you like westerns, and can stand some "adult" stuff, check out "Deadwood" on HBO. I'm not sure when that new season will start, maybe around March. The guy who wrote it is the same guy who did Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue. He is basically a genius. It is very good.

And of course, we watch CSI, really only the Original version and Miami, the New York one is just not right. Oddly it cannot capture a real Nooo Yawk flavour despite the accents.

Oh, and here's one for you hills, Monk, the wonderful oddball show with the always excellent Tony Shaloub as a genius detective suffering from Obsessive Compulsive disorder. Sounds ridic, I know, but it's a wonderful show, with a lot of heart, very good old fashioned values on this one. New episodes starting this Friday, Jan 13th on USA network. And with this show it really won't matter if you've never seen one before.

Can you tell, we watch a lot of TV!

"$100,000 Pyramid on Game Show Network"

Aha! I love that show too. I always have. Password is great too. I also really like "family fued", esp. the original with Richard Dawson. Also the old "match game" show. And hubby really likes "the price is right", the kid likes that too, but she likes any game show.

I thought this "niche" channel was a silly idea when I heard about it, but it turned out to be a real favorite. It's definately a channel my whole family enjoys and can watch together without argument,so that's really something.

Over the past few years I have lost interest in watching network television, both as a result of their anti-Americanism and the fact that I find their offerings dull and stupid.

I tend to watch old black and white movies, the old game shows, TV lands old black and white sitcoms, plus some HGTV, Discovery and History channel, Animal Planet.

I rarely watch FNC anymore either.

* Repeats of Password Plus, Super Password and $100,000 Pyramid on Game Show Network

I agree, but I enjoy the old "What's My Line" even more. Problem is, they only air that in the middle of the night.

The stars on the panel had to rely on actual intelligent humor back then because it was not considered appropriate to use the gutter humor that's so prevelant today.

Our culture has lost quite a bit, unfortunately.

I wish I could get "Veronica Mars" here, but I don't have a UPN station. *snerk* But I did pick up the first season DVD set and am enjoying it immensely! I also enjoy "Lost", "Smallville", "Supernatural", "Grey's Anatomy", "Two and a Half Men", "My Name Is Earl", and "Ghost Whisperer."

If you want comedy, watch "My Name is Earl" and "The Office" on NBC Thursday nights. These are not your usual sitcoms, rather they are slices of life of the characters depicted. There isn't a laugh track or studio audience, you need to decide for yourself what is funny. The writing on both shows is superb.

"I haven't seen a TV sitcom in a year, since coming to Iraq, and mobilizing before. The only TV beamed to us is CNN for the officers, and FoxNews for the NCO's. The only newsprint we get is Stars & Gripes, which is nothing much beyond the AP Body Count on page 3. My news comes from the Websites I get to use. I am totally and happily clueless about current pop culture. Troops in theater prefer "The Simpsons," "South Park", classic SNL, and some new stuff, like Dave Chapelle. Lots of guys watch re-runs of "Friends", mainly because of the occasional hooter shots."

Great to hear you get some of the old SNL, Sarge. Even 'Friends' is pretty funny; at least the writing is crisp and clever. I cancelled Cable.....enjoy reading too much. Still can't find anything on regular network TV. Best of luck to you.

"I don't know if we could consider THE SOPRANOS here but that's the only reason I keep HBO and plan to through 2006. After that, I can't say, given that the rest of their serials are hideous dives"...

Very true. Sopranos is one of the best shows EVER. Amazingly good; each and every episode. I've seen most all of 'em and also look forward to the new shows.

You're right on the Office.......I almost forgot. It's pretty good. I'm not "hooked" though. It's just 'OK', but without that main character, the show, in my opinion wouldn't be there. He carries the show, whereby classic TV could be carried by nearly anyone in the cast. I've seen "Earl" and it's not for me - too obvious...tries to hard to be bizarre. Good editing though.

JD, I saw that last night and was in stitches! Thanks for answering my "I wonder if Titus was ever puton DVD". Thanks. Off to Amazon I go.

Mind of Mencia is a hoot as well. He did a bit about vanity license plates that had me on the floor.

"...Is the "CBS Evening News" a sitcom?..."

No. It's a soap opera.

We usually watch:

24
Lost
CSI
Numbers
George Lopez
World According to Jim
Two and 1/2 Men (probably the Charlie Sheen show you saw the ad to, but I love it, and thinks it rather hilarious)
American Idol
Celebrity Dancing/Skating
MXC

A lot of programming has gone down the tubes lately....bad morals and values being taught...

I knew with your eye for the ladies, you'd have picked up on Kristen Bell! Her and Evangeline Lilly are all I need to counter whatever it is I don't like about broadcast TV.

I think you'll enjoy the second season of VM, though I know it's a long, cruel wait until the DVDs come out. I've actually been watching them off of Usenet. alt.binaries.multimedia and alt.binaries.tv. If you check regularly, the entire season gets posted from time to time.

Have you seen the hilarious scene from The Price is Right that they've been showing on that Ben Stein "outrageous game show moments" show? It's the one where the woman ruins Bob's shell game by looking under the first shell. Oh, man. That was some great TV there. I wouldn't watch that outrageous moments show with the kids, as they show some really raunchy stuff from British TV, but that one segment is golden.

I thought this "niche" channel was a silly idea when I heard about it, but it turned out to be a real favorite. It's definately a channel my whole family enjoys and can watch together without argument,so that's really something.

I love GSN in some respects, but I wish they hadn't brought the card games and the reality shows. Still, it is the main channel to which I am always tuned.

Lost is as good a show as commercial television has ever shown. The TV shows of the 1960s have an inflated reputation because everyone watched them and so many people grew up with them. But Lost is a lot better than Lost in Space or Gilligan's Island.

Not so crazy about CSI. People watch it for the science. The acting and characters are weak. I've watched it, but don't believe William Peterson's Henry James quoting, roller coaster riding, bug obsessed science geek, Marg Helgenberger's ex-go-go dancer daughter of a gambling mogul, or Gary Dourdan's gambling addict.
