They're pretty different from PF. The first one is an American take on various Asian chop socky genres. The second is an uneasy mix 'Westerns' and 'Easterns'. That whole third act with David Carradine was embarrasingly bad.

The first one's pretty good. The second drags in places. Be warned though, it's quite violent.

I disagree, I loved the Superman speech. It's not as good as Pulp Fiction, or the same style. I meant that they're all black comedies mostly.

Oh, and my condolences to the Penn family. (Since this is what the thread is about after all.)

Struck me as the worst possible combination of banal and self conscious. Not to mention the fact that that whole speech was a rehash of a million college late night bull sessions.

Just saw a very recent photo of Chris promoting his new CBS series. He had obvious arterial deformation of the nose and high face, looking red and inflamed. These are signs of sever hypertension, I believe. I hope he didn't die because of some aversion to doctors.

"Bush's fault?
Do people still think that is funny?"

It's just sad to see this on so many threads. It's juvenile and is no longer amusing in the least. Even if you think you're just making fun of how often it's been used, it doesn't work. It just flat out needs to be retired.

really?  I thought it was great.  Carradine was terrific in that scene.

I liked Part 2 better than Part 1, mostly because of that waaay overlong fight with the Crazy 88 in #1.  Cool the first time you see it, but quite boring on repeat viewings.

Uma's training and especially when she digs out send chills down my spine. The music's really great there.

I like the visual where she's walking across the road into the diner immediately after being buried and the dirt is flying off her in clouds.

Loved him in footloose, Reservoir Dogs and The Wild Life. I think those were his three best roles. By the way, your screenname is my real name. :-)

Yeah, heard it on the news around 7.
I live in Santa Monica & saw him quite frequently. He has been running a lot lately....but way too hard for a man about 100 pounds overweight. He probably had a heart attack.

One of the most enduring images for my mind's eye that I have read is Ronald Reagan and John Lennon together on Monday Night Football booth. I have read the description of how Ronald Reagan put his arm around Lennon's shoulder and spent some time explaining the game to him.

I think Ronald Reagan would be saying, 'God bless the Penn family' right now. I know those are my thoughts.

"righttackle44, what level of football did you get to?"

Back in those days, it was called junior college. (We used to have to stop practice occasionally to let the prehistoric animals and chariots pass.)

After JC, I Went to a major university. Thought about walking on. Went to see the coach and walked into some of the largest creatures ever seen on the surface of the earth
in the locker room.

Decided that I probably was never going to play at that
level. I was a place kicker--extra point specialist.
But they had two of the best, so the probablity that
I was going to break in there was remote, too.

Loved the game. Knew when to stop.

"He had obvious arterial deformation of the nose and high face, looking red and inflamed. These are signs of sever hypertension"

The more likely answer is heavy drinking and cocaine.

Since both my husband and younger daughter were on prednisone, I have learned not to judge why people are overweight. It does not take long for it to show either. Jerry Lewis was taking something like this.

My husband had Hodgkin's Disease many years ago and we had to sign release forms since prednisone was a very new and experimental drug and our daughter was on it before she died for Crohn's Disease.

IMHO, both Kill Bill's(1&2) are great movies. Get some popcorn and some beverages, and watch them IN ORDER, back to back.

#1 and 2 are VERY DIFFERENT in style, but are t5otally connected in story.

To quote Quintin as close as I can: "I wanted to make both movies and have whoever watched them, figure out at the end, that they REALLY just watched a love story."

Borges, THAT is what your so called "frat conversation" Superman speech by David Carradine was REALLY about IMHO....why Bill loved her, and thought she would never leave him.

OBTW....I have gained a whole new respect for David Carradine as an actor since watching Kill Bill 2, along with Daryll Hannah, Lucy Lu, and Uma Thurman.

I also like The 5,6,7,8's, and my new pin up girl is :
