You're added!
I'll look for it/ thanks.
That's exactly what works! Thanks, it's easy to forget.
Only thing is, Millee said if you drink a beer out of a frosted mug, it doesn't contain any calories. Except now my jeans a getting a bit tight...
You sound just like a good friend of mine...is your name Andrea?!
Water's not a cure, but it's probably better for you than any other beverage (adult or otherwise). On a previous thread, I noted that replacing a 132 Calorie can of Coca-Cola with zero-Calorie water daily is a free weight loss of almost 14 pounds per year. To get your caffeine fix, black coffee and unsweetened tea are better choices.
Other general information and tips that I have discovered:
An order of large fries at McDonald's has more Calories than a Big Mac. (A Quarter-Pounder without cheese and a diet soda "only" has 420 Calories and 18 grams of fat.)
Filet and Sirloin are the leanest cuts of beef; prime rib and porterhouse are the most fattening.
Although very high in salt, dill pickles have almost no Calories; they're mostly water.
In praise of mustard: more flavor than mayo, only 10 percent of the calories.
Bananas are very filling, and only have about 100 Calories each.
I get loads of water every day from soup (homemade, so I can control the salt) as well as drinking bottled water. Especially when I drink water a half hour or so before a meal I eat less and feel full faster.
I have looked for supervised water therapy here, and have yet to find it.
I hope your friends prognosis is incorrect, and he has many more good years than that.
I will check out the "Y" in my area and in the surrounding areas to see if that is available. Thanks.
What a great idea. Please add me to the list, as I am on a slow but relatively sure weight loss system. In the last 5 months, 26 pounds have come off, but I have more to lose. I'm not going to try to get down to any specific weight, but will be trying daily to get more healthy.
LOL! Nope :D
When the Y first opened, they had tours that would go through the building to show off the facility to prospective members. One day, we looked up from working out to see a bunch of men through the glass kinda snickering at us. My comment to the teacher was "We oughta get them in the pool and start them working out; we'd wipe the smiles off their faces when they realized just how much WORK it is!" ;o)
LOL! I'm too fat to "skinny" dip!!!
I had to check out and didn't see this before. That sounds yummy. I will be trying that. Thanks.
Try the hospitals. Here in our town the hospital has a fitness center with a pool. It costs seniors $14 a month. I think it's $28 a month for youngsters, but it's open to everyone. Supervised programs are also available. If our small town has one of these, surely larger hospitals have them.
Congrats on your progress, BTW!
I wanted to answer at work yesterday but try to avoid posting when working.
I've lost 33 lbs since January 1st switching to low carb "Zone diet" type formulas. You can still eat carbs, but lesser portions and such. Check out the book by Dr. Sears, the science behind the theory is very strong. The results is even better.
I joke about being a dumpy white middle-aged man, but the truth is after the loss, my face and body are more chisled than ever. I'm just lovin' it, and the food it so good and fulfilling with the method I'm using, I don't really want to change my diet. It's enjoyable.
Finally, my results are directly related to my genetics. I simply cannot eat bread, or more specifically cannot consume an abundance of glutens.
My body doesn't process them, it stores them as fat.
I believe there's going to be a major dietary revolution for much of the caucasian population when it's learned that many of them have the same problem. Bread is the "great white lie". It's NOT GOOD FOR MANY OF US and is leading to severe health problems.
In fact the major change in my diet that's noticable is that I simply stopped eating bread. I eat everything else and watch my consumption of sweets.
Oh yeah, and no more "Pop Tarts" for breakfast. That was bad. ; )
Do you have Celiac???
I had to look that up, so I guess the answer would be No. : )
But I have several direct kin who are allergic to either glutens or corn. I base my assessment on my results by following similar elimination diets.
But maybe I should have this checked out? What are your experiences that you can share? I didn't find much in the dictionary. Maybe I'll look up "Celiac Forum" and see what pops up.
Either way, the weight just dropped away, and very fast. Maybe the purging of a celiac storing "garbage" would cause this? Yikes, I'm going to finish my breakfast before I think about this more. ; )
Great idea. Hadn't thought of that.
