I actually am a diabetic so I'm on a very low carb - no sugar diet. I walk 8 miles a day which helps also. I have lost 25 pounds on it so far.

WOW!!!! Since when? 8 miles on treadmill or outside. Also all at once or a few times throughout the day. 8 miles would be about 2 1/2 hours. That is amazing if you do it all at once.

8 miles! Awesome. My brother was just diagnosed with diabetes and he is a pretty big fella'. Anything I can learn on this thread that would help him, I would be very happy to know so I could pass it by him and cross my fingers that he'll give it a try.
We do not have a history of diabetics in our family (that we know of) so the weight my brother carries is probably a key cause for the diabetes but he is just not motivated yet to do anything other than take medication for it.
