Um, have you read the funny pages, lately? Use of others' characters is acceptable for satire, and "The Family Circus'" characters have appeared in all sorts of depraved ways in other strips. I'm sure its creators did NOT approve.
Recently, "Pearls Before Swine" had a fairly long sequence wherein the kids from "Baby Blues" were babysat by Rat, who had them go on a booze run, during which they crashed the family car which exploded into a fireball.
By far - one the BEST episodes ever!!
My husband was laughing so hard I thought I might have to give him CPR!!!
Uh, still... a LOT of that humor was aimed squarely at Family Guy and was NOT self-referential... Like the constant flashbacks...
Actually, that episode is an excellent response to the critic!
>> Saying bluntly that the problem is they cannot have sex, J*** off, and they have sand in their ass isn't going after Islam? <<
Well, I guess this is one faithful Catholic who's skipping the beach this summer... :^D
I've thought before, that I might die of funny :~D
It's an alarming notion when you know that and still can't stop laughing :~D
I don't think they would need to, as it would fall into the category of "fair use" as satire.
I would love to see "Family Guy" do a "South Park" spoof. Maybe Stewie decides that Cartman has to die.
Soutpark has been knockin' 'em out of the park lately!
They're remarkably talented guys aren't they?
They just keep getting better!
Stewie against Cartman? That's like bringing the canary to the cat. If Cartman can fool Scott Timmermann into eating his own parents, Stewie wouldn't stand a chance. Cartman is too diabolical, even for Football Head.
I'd say the episode was as much about Americans as it was about Muslims; burying their heads in the sand and such. Stating the obvious, I guess.
Thanks for the ping.
You underestimate Stewie. He is a diabolical genius. He will eliminate Cartman with a weapon of mass destruction that he invented himself.
No one in South Park can withstand Stewie Griffin. Except for Ike Broflovsky.
You mean like they used the Super Adventerers Club instead of Scientology?
For some reason, Seth MacFarlane isn't well liked by other animators. Groening's been very uncomplimentary when asked about Family Guy. Matt & Trey, well, you saw their barbs last night. (Stone once said in an interview when people compare South Park to FG, it's like kicking him in the groin.) Even Kevin Smith took a shot at him in the first half dozen episodes of the "Clerks" animated series.
btt
It honestly wouldn't surprize me if the whole two-part thing didn't happen. I can see Matt & Trey saying there would be a part two and then not doing one.
It amazes me that season-after-season, they continue to make better shows.
