Hubby and I are getting ready to spend $2100 for our German Sheppard to have his hip fixed. I've gotten a lot of ridicule from my co-workers, but I hope it'll be worth it. If he can ambulate without pain, it will be.
Hope all turns out well. My Black Lab Mutt Mix is a diabetic.
45 units of Insulin daily. She is now blind as well due to the diabetes. It's amazing how she has been able to use hearing and smell to adapt. She's turned into a 'tracker' to find the ball when we play. And yes, she follows the squirrels on the phone wires between the utility poles.
You aren't alone. We spent $2000 about 18 months ago to save our schnauzer's vision (diabetic cataracts). The way we figured it, although the cost of the surgery blew a hole in our savings we probably would have spent the money on something useless eventually vs. towards something which made a huge difference. Within a few days Teddy was watching out the back window on squirrel patrol again. Otherwise, at the age of 5, he would have spent the rest of his life in darkness.
Good luck with your furbaby's surgery!
Well, what's money for if you can't use it on the things you love. Hope your dog makes out OK.
Yeah, I got the cracks from the guys at work too.
