May 20 marked my sixth wedding anniversary, and per usual my wife and I celebrated our blessed union at ... luxurious Lowe's Motor Speedway. Nothing fuels the ol' romantic inferno quite like Sunoco 110.
Granted, there are worse places to commemorate the knot, especially considering that this year's go-round included stellar positioning at a Red Hot Chili Peppers set. We're both fans. So somewhere near the midnight hour we moseyed over to Turn 1 to take in the festivities.
But as they blasted away furiously at electric guitar strings -- roaring race engines are tranquil by comparison -- my mind wandered. This was the NASCAR Humpy Wheeler was talking about.

Watching Winston Cup/Nextel nowadays is like watching ARCA years ago. Cookie cutter cars. They had a replay of the 1979 Daytona 500 today and it was fun to watch.
When the COT makes it's debut that's when I'll find something else to watch.
NA$CAR hasn't been NASCAR for years. I'd rather watch Jr's "Back in the Day" on Speed TV than waste an afternoon watching the current F1-wannabe's whine.
