2006 WORLD CUP - Day 15 Thread - Groups G and H conclude

Spain will open the games, playing against Saudi Arabia in Kaiserslautern at 9:55 a.m. ET on ESPN and Ukraine will face Tunisia at the same time in Berlin (ESPN2).

Ukraine goes into the game against Tunisia knowing that it determines its own destiny. A victory will guarantee passage, but a draw could set up the possibility of another tie-breaking situation on goal difference. Tunisia, meanwhile, which hasn't won a World Cup game since its debut in 1978, has to defeat Ukraine and hope that Saudi Arabia does not defeat Spain by a large margin.

France will play against Togo in Cologne (2:55 p.m. ET, ESPN) without Zinedine Zidane, who is suspended for yellow card accumulation. 'Les Bleus' need a victory; any other result will put an end to their World Cup adventure. The 1998 champions were eliminated four years ago in the group stage, as well.

Switzerland and Korea lead the group with four points each and will face each other in Hannover (2:55 p.m. ET, ESPN2) knowing that a victory for either side will secure a spot in the Round of 16. A victory or a tie by Togo will guarantee both Switzerland and Korea a spot in the knockout phase.

Have you a link to any good articles that analyze the US-Ghana game? I cannot find one.

Also would like to see any explanation of the Ghana player showing the Israeli flag after scoring on Czech.

Ditto on Ukraine winning; I'd like to see all the Islamic countries lose every game. I do NOT like to see politics in the WC, but anything that goes well for the Islamists works for their PR and brings more terrorists into the fold.

How do the wogs (Im still watching Spain) get around their prayer time? I mean, what if one of their allah calls occur during the game?

The Ghana player with the Israeli flag plays for a team in Israel, Hapoel Tel Aviv. He waved the flag for his Israeli fans.

A lot of the British online commentaries are quite funny. Read the guardian's commentary on the Australia-Croatia yesterday. Quite entertaining :-)

As much as I enjoyed reading about the "shock" and "horror" this caused... it does seem a bit odd for a player on a national team to display another country's flag as a goal celebration...

The Guardian, drippy rag though it is, does do good online sports commentaries. They are often funny.

Not a racist-just a realist. Its more than the Saudis. A religion or faith that claims a billion adherents has got to have some detractors. Yet, that is the quietest billion folks I have ever heard. During the 70's and 80's, while the Catholics and Protestants were butchering eachother in the Northern Six, both the Catholic and Protestant communities worldwide screamed bloody murder about the violence and denounced it at every turn. When a jihadi saws of the head of a kidnap victim-silence. When they blow up a pizzeria in Israel- silence. (Unless there is a way to get the UN and world community to blame Israel)I could go on and on, but Ill sum it up this way-Islam sucks and is not to be trusted..

From what I understand, Hapoel Tel Aviv set was the first major club to set up a football acedemy in Ghana to give young men a chance at playing professionally. These guys are eternally grateful to the club and Israel inparticular, for giving them the opportunity.

Israel, not Ghana, helped him get where he is today.

Hey there !

Well he's CEO of the 1FC Bayern München and is doing Politics with the Bavarian Conservative Party CSU.

Some other Footballers have even opened small restaurants.

Me thinks he's quite a bright guy.
