The World Cup is the biggest example of media induced mass hysteria I've seen since Global Warming.

I've watched several games and they do not live up to the hype

This is a sport that is in serious need of a makeover to have any real appeal. First off look at the scores in the games: 0-0 in one final, 0-2 (a blowout!), 1-1. So you are watching people pass a soccer ball around, mostly to no avial, for 90 minutes. Then, when it's tied they do it for another 30 minutes. Then, mercifully, the game is ended with penalty kicks.

There is more ground pounding action in women's tennis.

When does NFL exhibition start? This travesty has made me look forward to it.

" Am I alone?"

You are not alone. If you know the game and watched carefully it was a beautiful game. Even the reffs let them play on a lot. I was not suprised at the final result.

No, however I think I am saying good-bye to Soccer for good as a fan.

This match made me leave Boxing.

And I was never a fan of this.

With Portugal's tactics and the verbal volleys before the match, this one could be a red filled day.

Italy kindly awaits its next victim in Berlin.

"We're going to Berlin!"

Brasil had a bad tournament and lost. Sometimes the more talented team doesn't bring their A game.

Sorta like the US in basketball when we lost to Argentina in the Olympics.

The soccer-hating trolls are out in force. Best to just ignore them.

So leave and take the ignorant multi-culturalism with you.
There is no multi-cultaralism in the World Cup. It's national joy or sorrow.
There is no helping you.

Clearly no experience or understanding of the game so go play billiards or something.

Never say never - I watched it for the first time with an open mind just last week.

Rugby looks interesting, and the North Americans look uncomfortable playing the game, with no lateral mobility, poor acceleration, poor teamwork, and few ideas.

The World Cup game yesterday was so good, with such amazing skills on display, that it has made the whole tournament worthwhile.

Try spending five minutes with a soccer ball to understand the speed, balance, agility, conditioning, strength and creativity you are exposed to in World Cup action. Amazing.

Yes, Italy is famous in surrendering to the will of victory.
Following the Roman and Holy Roman Empire, they will no surrender to the will of victory for their 4th World Cup victory.

Afterwards, they will stand with their allies and fight against the barbarians against Western Civilization.

RE: serves you well - not blaming rooney and your team for the loss but ronaldo.

Ronaldo is a snake and makes me puke with his whiny behaviour, Rooney deserved a yellow not a red, that was low of the ARGENTINIAN ref.

France deserve to put this slime ball out the world cup.

Just give us one more day to recover from the epic.
We'll be ready for Zidane's swan's song then.

Discuss..

What's to discuss, you say?

Sonds like someone who knows nothing about football and can't contribute to the discussion, there is plenty to discuss.

Deco and Costinha will be back for Portugal which will vastly improve their team particularly in midfield, but France has a great defence, but Ronaldo's speed may cause them trouble. it will be close.

so sad that England did not make it past Portugal and into this final....France-England is the kind of rivalry that Yankees-Red Sox could potentially develop into (in a thousand years or so.......)

France and England would not have met in the final, they would have been semi-final adversaries..
