CBS) Paris Hilton says she knows what people want, and she's about to give it to them.
The hotel heiress and star of the reality show "The Simple Life" releases her debut album, "Paris," on Aug. 22. "It's a very fun album, it's very eclectic mix of music," Hilton tells CBS News correspondent Drew Levinson. "I know music very well, and what people like. I want to incorporate hip-hop, rock, pop and dance all into one album."
Will it be popular? "I think everyone will enjoy it," Hilton says.
Hilton rose to fame as a party girl and red-carpet regular while still in her teens, and later gained a broader audience with her reality show. The underground release of a sex tape of Hilton made by her boyfriend only added to her popularity.

Then again Justin Timberlake posed for the front cover of Rolling Stone (or someplace similar) in an MC5 shirt.
BTW, the ONLY thing stranger than that album cover is that PICTURE of her holding that album.
On a marginally related note, Pere Ubu is releasing a new CD next month and will be touring. They put on a good show.

Haven't seen them but did see David Thomas and another Pere Ubu member in the Rocket From The Tombs reunion show.
They got Chetah Chrome back too. Two other musicians substituted (one from Clevland's The Mirrors, and the other from Television).
Cheetah Chrome? How did he sound? He was the only Dead Boy to seriously scare the crap out of me. Even Stiv managed to look cuddly compared to him. Yikes!
They put on a great show but everyone except for the guy from the Mirrors seemed unhappy to be there (dealing with the public).

I don't know if its true or not, but I read somewhere that the reason so many people wear MC5 shirts is because Levis bought that image. So a lot of people are probably buying the shirts and have no idea who MC5 were. Of course, with the Justin/MC5 and Paris/Beefheart pictures it is probably just image consultants trying to make them seem cool.
Same with "Von Dutch" wear and you are right about image consultants.
