AS to their leaving....I certainly would not have wanted to stay in a house where my daughter had just been brutally murdered.....They were from ATlanta, had family there....Man, I'd want to share tears, fears and hugs from family really soon... It's the first place I'd want to go...... HOME

Technically, they shouldn't. Once it becomes a crime scene, they should vacate the premises, taking only what is needed to go about daily living. I would have sent Burke to spend time with family elsewhere and kept the parents in some type of temporary residence (or a hotel) and had them stay to help law enforcement solve the crime while everything was still fresh - except, of course, the parents weren't too eager to help law enforcement solve the crime.

They should have been allowed to plan for the funeral arrangements and attend them, of course, but the rest of the time they should have been making themselves available for questioning. It's what I would have done. I would have become obsessed with solving the case and finding out why my daughter died.
