Nancy went from being a prosecutor in courts to a persecutor on tv.

I suppose if your kid disappeared and you made the mistake of talking to that idiot you'd know exactly how it would affect you?

I doubt I'd make the mistake of talking to Nancy Grace.

from another thread:

Before it was over, Grace was pounding her desk and loudly demanding to know: “Where were you? Why aren’t you telling us where you were that day?”

Yes, it was a "grilling' when you're pounding the freakin desk and asking "why aren't you telling us..."

My point is, the woman was a fool to agree, but it's not like she's not under stress.

She sure has paid for not being as smart as you are under stress.

You know, frankly, I'm surprised more people don't commit suicide after watching CNN.

Actually, they do, that's the dirty little secret of the Chicken Noodle Network's low ratings -- their viewers keep offing themselves and therefore disappearing from the next ratings sweeps!! But they're room temperature, so they can't be interviewed to find out why they quit watching CNN, so it remains a secret (until now).

The secret of CNN's ever declining ratings is out ...

Since I didn't see it, I can't comment except for what I read on the transcript. As I said, I don't particularly like Nancy Grace BECAUSE of her interviewing tactics. That being said, the circumstances that caused this young woman to commit suicide are very suspicious, and I don't believe they have anything to do with the way in which Nancy Grace treated her, unless it was because she was guilty, and she figured she'd be found out sooner rather than later.

Show didn't cause suicide, host says

These kinds of assumptions are Nancy Grace's trademark. If there's ever been a truly ugly individual, she is it. And I don't mean physically ugly - which she also qualifies – but, the deep-seated ugliness that comes from her crass, obnoxious, convict-and-get-the-facts-later personality.

I stopped watching her when I was going to college, but about 6-8 weeks ago I was changing channels and saw her discussing something/someone I agreed with her. However, her abrasive style, loud voice and constant interruptions reminded me of the old Nancy Grace that originally alienated me, prompting me to change the channel, notwithstanding the slight headache she gave me.

Grace also noted that "Melinda committed suicide before that interview ever aired."

Melinda knew that her interview was going to be aired, so why would Melinda need to watch it when she already knew that Nancy made her look guilty, with no sensitivity for her feelings or her state of mind? As for Nancy, who assumes the worst in so many individuals, it's very telling that she casts herself above her “guilty until proved innocent” TV persona.

Take responsibility, Nancy, and admit that your aggressive interview was most likely a trigger for this woman's suicide. You will sleep better... that is, if you have a conscience.

Nancy is anything but a loathesome person. Do a little research to find out why she's so passionate about her cause first.

Years ago I did a short interview because of a case involving my dad. I had been told beforehand that she was a nice, yet passionate person. She was. Never had a problem with her.

That's great, you should be a writer.

Of course we can't say for sure, and my personal suspicion is that she was driven to kill herself because of some personal culpability. But I think the police kinda wish she were still around to be asked about the situation, ya know?

Nancy Grace is a vulture in a skirt.

She may be passionate but she comes across as loathsome to me too. I have tried to watch her but I always end up changing the channel.

Good observations. She is a huge turnoff and her 'act' is just awful. I think her shelf life is coming to an end, though this notoriety will help her quite a bit in the brave new world of the 21st century media.

I suspect the police were tougher on her than Nancy Grace.

That may be true.

I was just joking.

The article said how much she had done covering Jon Benet Ramsey and Natalee Holloway - cases where neither was recovered alive and no one has been brought to justice.

She's just about ratings. She doesn't help investigations, she compromises them.

Maybe. But we don't KNOW that, and it seems a terrible thing to speculate about based on nothing but a growing inclination to believe the worst about people. There has been nothing offered to suggest that she wanted to be rid of the child, that she had any history of aberrant behavior, etc., so why jump to the conclusion that this was anything other than a grieving, emotionally distraught young mother?? Because it's more interesting?? Because it makes a better story?? Because those who speculate in this direction are just mean spirited? Don't you think that if she DID do something to the child, it'll be made public soon enough? Why go there at this point? Why can't we just recognize how very, very sad this is for everyone involved and pray for the child's safe return instead of rubbing our hands in glee over the "suspicious" behavior of the mother?
