Please, if you feel so moved, join me in a prayer vigil through Tuesday evening for the upcoming elections. And please ping anyone you think might be interested in doing this.

A Prayer for national leaders:

Thus says the LORD: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, whose heart turns away from the LORD. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can understand it?

"I the LORD search the mind and try the heart, to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings."

Jeremiah 17: 5-10

O Lord, have mercy on us,
each and every one of us
for trusting in our own strong hand
instead of in your hands.

O Lord, you who know all hearts,
soften our hearts,
awaken us to where we have failed,
awaken us to whom it is who gives us our strength,
and teach us to walk in your ways.

Today, O Lord, I send up my prayers
That you guide the minds and hearts of those
who go to the polls to choose our next group of leaders.

May these be men and women of your chosing,
who will lead us as you want.

Please help those who will stand up against the darkness
hold their place agains the gathering foes
and bravely do the right thing.

Above all, may your will be done, this day and always.

In the name of Jesus we ask, Amen.

It is to You, O Lord, that we return with praise and thanksgiving, for You have blessed us beyond measure in these United States. Your Word and Your ways were in the hearts and deeds of our Founding Fathers, and we have seen Your guiding hand throughout our history. Never has a nation been more blessed, Merciful Father, and we offer our praise and adoration for your mercy and loving kindness.

And may it continue to be so, O Lord, for the sake of Your children, for vicious is the enemy and relentless is his pursuit for the hearts and minds of the people. We call upon the Power of God to guide and guard us in the days ahead, for the very soul of our beloved land is in danger. Stay the hand of the enemy, O Lord ... thwart every plan and silence every tongue and confuse every deed that would mislead the people. May the Holy Spirit open the hearts and the eyes of the people, that we would see that the enemy is at the gate ... cause us to close the door on evil intent by electing candidates whose agenda reveals a love of God and country, who are totally committed to the protection of our people, whose authority of office will inspire and encourage, where life is sacred and treasures and talents are for the betterment of freedom-loving people everywhere.

Strike down, Merciful Father, those institutions and alliances that would bring us disaster ... that would weaken rather than strengthen. Let Your voice be heard above the din of doom and despair ... speak to our hearts, that we might be obedient and choose those to be in authority over us who would rule righteously and well.

Kingdoms rise and fall at Your command, O God ... may Your mercy fall upon us that we not lose favor in Your sight. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen ...

Thanks for the invitation to prayer. I am happy to join in with all of you.

I pray, Lord, that you give us good prolife men and women in this election, so that the right to life may be restored to every single soul in this great nation, from conception to natural death.

I ask it in the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.
