COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Rev. Ted Haggard admitted Friday he bought methamphetamine and received a massage from a gay prostitute who claims he was paid for drug-fueled trysts by the former head of the National Association of Evangelicals.

"I bought it for myself but never used it," Haggard told reporters gathered outside his home. "I was tempted, but I never used it."

Haggard, 50, said he never had sex with Mike Jones, a 49-year-old Denver man who raised the allegations this week. Haggard said he received a massage from Jones after being referred to him by a Denver hotel.

He admits it's himself on the tape ordering "more" meth like the last time, but says that he keeps ordering it and not using it, and that Jones just gave him a massage.

I believe him. Not.

"I bought it for myself but never used it,"

Right up there with "I smoked it but never inhaled."

Hey, at least Haggard didn't try to marry the guy, THEN he really would have been a hypocrite.

:p

"I was tempted, but I never used it."

Liar. You can't be tempted by that which you don't know and is not instinct.

Which is also right up there with "I was for the war before I was against it."

I was defending him yesterday, even if he was guilty. Because I was an idiot and assumed that he would repent and ask for forgiveness.

I did not inhale, and it was a friendly massage between me and a gay hooker is a freaking joke. This is more embarassing than actually admitting it. He is doing the Clinton defense.

Did he lie under oath about it?

The fact that Jones was naked when he gave me my massage is irrelevant.

He is re-ordering it. In specific quantities. So those other times he bought it and just flushed it too. Jimminy Crickets the guy is being a jackass.

It depends on what the meaning of it is.

The I didn't inhale was from the campaign stump though, Clinton wasn't testilying on that one.

I really wasn't paying too much attention to this story until I saw this schtick. Now he's descended into characature, and that's a pretty difficult hole to climb out of.

Of course he bought it but didn't use it, Isn't that what everybody does? I hear it works great taking the rust off of bumpers, maybe that's why he got it.

And at least he - like Mark Foley - resigned.

Obviously Haggard must be a sicko, but at least he aint no dum-ocrat.

When they get caught in their sex acts... they proudly hang on.

"Jimminy Crickets the guy is being a jackass."

No kidding. There comes a point when the guy just needs to say, "OK, you got me".

I don't believe him, but you wouldn't believe how many packs of cigarettes I've through away because all of a sudden I felt guilty and pitched them. I probably "quit smoking" at least 100 times. It's not really the same situation but I hear meth is pretty addictive. Regardless, it seems like Haggard and the man whore.

Can someone tell me why this story matters? Is the guy running for office or something? I heard Rush talking a bit about it, but still don't get why MSNBC is making a big deal out it!!

Oh man, that is such a clintonesque answer.

But in his defense, I must say that I have bought a lot of stuff I've never used.

I have a cupboard filled with all manner of canned vegetables that are older than some of my grown children.

I do feel vindicated, as I have been bashing Haggard for years over his attempts to Bush global warming on Bush under the guise of Christianity. ("What Would Jesus Drive", etc)
