I'm not sure where you heard that. Putting more processors on a single chip is the general direction that the industry is moving nowadays.

They do release a lot more cards than they used to, though. Generally, I figure that it's worth upgrading every two generations. My current card is a 6600, so I'll probably get whatever 8000 sells for around $200.

I've got a 256MB 7800GS AGP...definitely helps with BF2...

I'm running a Geforce 6800 P4 3.0G 128K.

The new Medieval Total War runs like crap on this card,Rome Total War and Doom 3 etc. all run fantastic.

May need to upgrade to 8800 card soon.Do they make a PCI version?
