AMERICA - The Right Way!! (WEEKEND EDITION: Days 2120 and 2121) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | November 11, 2006 | All of Us

Posted on 11/11/2006 5:32:50 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of dispair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again.

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, and whose lives we cherish as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm.

The election was only four days ago, and the Democrats haven't even assumed power yet. Already, however, it is clear. They were disingenuous (shocking--isn't it?) about trying to rid Congress of scandal.

Yesterday, this space talked about the probable selection by Nancy Pelosi of Alcee Hastings to run the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. This man should, most certainly, be occupying government-paid space, but it shouldn't be Congress. A more apprpriate venue for Mr. Hastings would be Supermax.

But how did this come to pass anyhow? We were told time and again throughout the election that cronyism and scandal were the province of the Republicans.

Two comments was made yesterday by Henry Waxman, who will be heading up the House Government Reform Committee. First, the man said that he was going to have an interesting time figuring out what to investigate because his Committee had jurisdiction over, well, everything. The other remark was that his party had an obligation not to repeat what the Republicans have done (he was referring to the ignoring of scandals).

That's rather interesting.

Earlier this year, Representative Jefferson from Louisiana was suspected of taking bribes. An investigation was launched by the FBI, who, ultimately, searched the Congressman's office. Even the Republican Speaker of the House was outraged at this--not the potential crime, but that a Congressman's office had been searched.

What did they find? Well, let's just say that Rep. Jefferson became a walking cliche when cash was found in his refrigerator.

Were there calls for the removal of Jefferson from the House Democrats? Hardly. The crickets could be heard over the silence. It could be argued that Republicans simply believed the voters of Louisiana would take care of the problem (they have, sort of--though Jefferson will be in a runoff next month, one he is not likely to win as he trails badly) and had more pressing matters to attend to.

Democrats didn't stay silent for long, however. Was it a chorus of "Jefferson must go"? Hardly. In fact, it was quite the opposite, coming from the Congressional Black Caucus. They were screaming at the House Democratic leadership saying they didn't want Mr. Jefferson to be railroaded and sent to the cleaners (sorry--couldn't resist; those of you who remember the 70s sitcom will understand, as already stated, the man should be removed as he's become a walking cliche).

Where was Nancy Pelosi on this. Interestingly, she wanted Jefferson to go. She didn't make a lot of public noise about this, but that was the outcome she desired. The Congressional Black Caucus was far less than amused.

Now that Jefferson has been hung out to dry (all right, again, couldn't resist) by the voters of Louisiana, and the Democrats have gained power in the House, the Congressional Black Caucus wants a remedy. It appears Pelosi is prepared to give them one.

Alcee Hastings is not the senior Democrat on the Intelligence panel. He is the second ranking individual.

No problem, Ms. Pelosi appears prepared to remove the ranking member from that panel, giving Alcee Hastings the clear shot at the leadership post (which Pelosi has indicated would not be a problem).

Now, as already laid out yesterday, Mr. Hastings has made himself a most distinguished Member of the House. His behavior is hardly that of an ethical paragon of virtue. Quite the opposite--Mr. Hastings appears rather ethically challenged. Oh, heck, he's a crook, pure and simple. The bribary issue has never been resolved to the People's satisfaction; it was, however, to the Senate's.

But that's less important than keeping the Black Caucus happy. Put Mr. Hastings in. Let's roll down the scandal highway, ensuring cronyism from day one.

Democrats, rest assured, we will investigate you thoroughly and completely moving forward.

As Mr. Waxman said--it's going to be very difficult, however. There's just so much. We have a tough decision on where to begin.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

VETERAN'S DAY: a time to pause and pay tribute to all those brave troops who fought for all of us.....and a particularly poignant day for you, (((Molly))).

All, while we also pause to mourn the loss of the election, let's not wallow indefinitely

in the swamp of despair.

We need to remember that old song, "I'm going to pick myself up..." And as Scarlet O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day!"

Annie's "Tomorrow" resonates w/me, for "The sun WILL come out...."

LOL! Mozie better not hear you humming that "Annie" song.

My husband went for a haircut, and I am under orders to be dressed and ready to work downstairs when he gets back, so I'd better scoot.

Back later!

It is so beautiful in central Texas today. We had a cool front move through, the wind came in gusty and strong last night, it has quieted down, but still blowing. The temperature is a nice DRY 50 degrees. It's wonderful.

Yes, the next 2 years will be very interesting. We will see cronyism run rampant the screaming media will praise the demoflops for their intellegence and fair handling of affairs. I still think CT is correct about the media's desire to control this country.

We have Spring like weather! Darn! Wish we had the 5 inches on the ground - except the pups love to play in it and I have to dry off 4 Shih Tzus every time they come back inside!

I'm trying to avoid anything political just now. My heart is heavy and I fear for our country...

OH MY GOSH

What an absolutely HORRIBLE joke to play on someone.

It gives me the shivers, in a very unpleasant way.

I'm going back to cleaning closets.

Well ... the sun came up this morning, which is always a good thing .... a lasting thing ... Hello!!

You all humble me so ... I'm just a bucket of spit ... but y'all make me feel like lemonande ... truly, have you ever read something so .... strange? Har! Some things never change.

Citizen Soldier ... we may want to upgrade our blunderblusses ... blunderblussi? .... for the big guns are surely out this time around.

Molly ... you came into my heart yesterday morning ~~~ you did! I live way out in the country now, in a wee house which I love and will talk about later ... anyway, I drive through miles and miles of farm land to get to work ... so pretty and simple and soild. While driving to work yesterday, I glanced to my right and saw two hawks gliding on the cool morning air ... floating silently, effortlessly, beautifully. Your Dad came immediately to my mind, as did you ... of course. *smile* A very nice moment.

I see I have not forgotten how to chew up bandwidth!

Dog, I believe it all started with the passing of CFR. Look for ms. you-know-who to work very hard to disband the Electoral College. yikes.

Iowa Granny ... I have learned something since I moved out here! Yes! I could never be a farmer. Never! You can not procrastinate and be a farmer, I have learned. Well, I suppose you could be a bad farmer ...

Let's see ... I think I'll wait 'till .... next week to plant the beans ... you know? I really don't feel like plowing today, I think I'll take a walk instead. LOL!

Thank you for all the hard work you do ... both in the planting fields and the political ones as well ....

Hello, dear Kayak!

Nope. I have not been able to lurk often. I was without the Net for a long while ... no service out here. Spring and Summer are very busy for me, I am still in landscaping ... starting up a business again and working for another.

My wee house ... *smile* ... it was built in 1918 and I am its second owner!! A tidy little bungalow which I will always believe was meant for me. It was owned by a couple who never had any children and were married for 52 years. The widow left the home to her two elderly sisters. The house came with two wooden china cabinets handmade by the husband. When I fist looked at the house I admired them and thought how lovingly they had been maintained.

I kept coming back to this house, drawn to it. The backyard is fenced and there are handcrafted birdhouses nailed to the trees and garage.

Anyway, at closing, the two sisters sat across the table from me and I told them how very much this house meant to me ... I had tears in my eyes ... it's been a bit of a rough road ... they looked at each other and then the elder of the two explained to me that her sister's will stipulated that if the person who bought the house not only liked it .. but needed it ... then the cabinets were to stay there ... where they belonged. And so, I have a wee home!

The first week in, I decided I needed to replace the carpeting. I pulled up one corner to find ... original, untouched wood floors ... throughout! It has all the original wood trim and railing and hugs me each time I walk through the door.

Well, I have surely done enough talking about me. How are YOU, dear friend?! Any rashes lately?! Ha!
