The man who fathered kidnapped teen Shawn Hornbeck was a convicted sex offender who did three years in a Missouri prison on drug and sodomy charges, The Post has learned.
The late Walter Hornbeck was 60 when Shawn was born to him and his wife, Pamela Akers. He had little contact with his son, Akers said.
Akers kicked him out of the house when the boy was just 6 months old, and the couple divorced in 1992, about a year after Shawn was born.
Hornbeck was arrested in Washington County, near St. Louis, on Sept. 30, 1992, and charged with rape, although it's unclear who the victim was. Details of the case were not available, and most of the record has been sealed.

Craig Akers was in the process of legally adopting Shawn, but it had not happened yet, therefore Shawn's name is still legally Hornbeck.

that is a likely answer to where the NY Post got this info. Devlin's attorney's are going to trash the kids as their defense. I pray that Shawn's family can stand this pressure.
Do you have that picture of Shawns mom before he was kidnapped? I would like to see it. I did see a pic of his step dad in 2002 but not the mom. It was interesting to hear Shawn tell Oprah how surprised he was because his parents have changed so much in their looks. But it was so sweet for him to add, it could have been 20 yrs, he would have recognized them.
The mother looked as tho she was in her 20s. The stepdad looked pretty much the same, altho a bit thinner.
They exposed another case where Sylvia pointed the searchers in the wrong direction and they wasted time on her prediction of where the girl would be found.

Good grief don't you know it is an obligation if you are involved in some castrophic event to be on Oprah. Being on Oprah is the least of this families worries.

I agree. I was responding to someone who asked rhetorically whether this family had had enough exposure by the media.
Don't you think the family is going thru enough without comparing Aker's looks to Gores. That is a low blow.

yep, only Sean Hannity and Great Van Susteren seem t be supporting poor Shawn and his family. BOR and the rest of them are slamming Shawna nd his family. It is so disgusting!

The names on these some of these posts are very interesting, as they are usually the ones who continually bash the President.
The program pointed out a good number of her failed predictions. The latest one that she KNEW the Sago miners were going to be found alive.
I sent that old weird scientologist witch Greta an email and she responded we don't know the entire story and she is waiting for judgement. This was early on. I thought judgement. This kid was out on his bicycle minding his own business. What is there to judge.
Fox has pretty well lost my viewership over this.

yikes! Well, that does it for me than. I just saw her not agree with BOR, but I see it wasn't cause she didn't possibly agree with him, but rather she doesn't have an opinion one way or the other. Terrible!
I'm disgusted with all of this. People seem to forget Shawn was 11 and was kidnapped. Whatever happend after that is Devlin's doing, not Shawn! He is the victim! I can't understand why people don't get that!
Don't know if you've seen this article on the Hornbeck's from October 2006. Their whole life since his disappearance has been one of service to others in the same boat. I get really upset that people would trash them.
