Then you can join Mike Cope when he said, "I should've bought a Mac."
I'll never say that. I'll never wish it. :~)
I have no interest in being cute and obscure.
So, what you're saying is, if you use a Windoze box and you want to run your POS Gatesware you have to be able to 1)speed margin your hardware to run your POS spaghettiware, 2)connect to a RAID to protect from data loss that's going to occur from the down time caused by malfunctions of your POS spaghettiware and POS Dell boxes, and 3) install SLI in order to have things like graphics on your POS PC's that are almost as good as Mac graphics are straight out of the box.
Pour yourself another frosty mug, ET.
Nor do I. I don't think that was Rush's intent either. As Rush would say, that is a "patently absurd" statement.
Everyone I have tried to work with or share things with, someone who has been on a Mac, it's been nothing but a roadblock.
Maybe they work great when you can stand alone and never receive anything from, or share anything with, anyone else. But when you do, it gets in the way.
I don't have a problem with Windows or Microsoft, but I certainly have a problem working with people who do. Luckily, there's only been a couple of them :~D
But it's usually a windoze roadblock. I can open any windoze document, except Access, and work with it on my Mac just as if I was on a Gatesware box, but reopening the document back on a Gatesware box is usually where the problem is.
So, where's the roadblock? As usual, with control freak Gates and Microsoft.
In addition, most of us Mac guys have to use a Windblows box at work which means that we are in a much better position to comment on the differences between the two platforms than people that use PC's exclusively.
That's a major "except". As of the last time I checked, there is NO relational database for Mac. That's a major roadblock to being able to do work.
And on the other... Next time my Mac friend tries to open video files and can't figure it out, I'll ping you. Maybe you can help her, I've never been able to.

well you're so off it's not even funny... first of all, Overclocking is a CHOICE something that you DO NOT have with a Mac "Bl*w Jobs" took that choice away from you even though you paid out the a** literally for the hardware... second, Raid can be setup in Raid 0+1 Stripping&Mirriring... or a bunch of other configurations actually...
And Yes SLI, so Mac users can keep on drooling... BTW I love how the brand new 24" iMac only comes with a 7600GT(what a POS!)
your* even
So I should NOT ping the Mac Ping list over an article published in CNET News, one of the primary PC/Windows centric web news sites, that is negative toward Windows and positive toward Macs?
Thanks, Jacquej. These Windows flacks don't see their doing the same thing, over and over, expecting a different result as being insane... (shame on me... I used Argumentum ad Hominem, tch tch tch.)
Filemaker Pro is a fully relational database that is cross platform... It's been fully relational since 1993.
I've scanned the website briefly and did not see any mention of it being a relational database. The only Filemaker databases I've ever worked with were flat file. Can you find it for me?
Who told you that? Security patches will continue to be released for free till 2010, then you'll probably be able to pay for more if you still want them.
And a gazillion times easier to use than Access, I might add. It is actually...fun.
While Apple makes great products, a case can be made that Jobs is more of a control freak with the requirement OSX only run on Apple hardware, not that I begrudge his right to do that at all, as it does have certain advantages. But I'm also hearing a rumor the new iPhone won't be open to 3rd party products at all. I surely hope that's not the case, if you know otherwise, please advise.
You were probably dealing with older versions. It went fully relational back in 2004...see this article from PC Magazine:

Apple makes its money off of hardware. They tried licensing their OS to third parties back in the 90's, and it was a disaster for Apple financially. They have a completely different business model than Microsoft.
