Heavy Snow Event Nears

Today is definitely the calm before the storm as the North Central Regional Radar shows that the Midwest is generally quiet to end the weekend. A cold front, however, will deliver light snow from eastern Nebraska to northern Michigan today. Areas from Iowa to southern Michigan and northern Ohio will receive up to a few inches of powdery snow from the front tonight.
As a storm pushes through the Rockies, a bit of snow will start falling over the central Plains with some rain and wintry weather over Kansas and northern Missouri tonight. The snow will become more widespread from the northern High Plains to the Ohio Valley on Monday as the clash of cold air to the north and warm and moist air to the south allows the storm to strengthen over the southern Plains on Monday.
According to our Winter Weather Center, snow amounts will be significantly higher over areas just south of lakes Michigan and Erie Monday into Tuesday as snow falls along the northern, then western fringe of the storm. Winter Storm Watches are already in place from southeastern Nebraska to southwestern Pennsylvania and the Maryland Panhandle where 6 to 12 inches of snow will come down by the end of Tuesday.
Snowfall totals will significantly lower to the south of the heaviest band of snow due to warmer air causing the snow to either start out as or mix with rain or icy weather.
On Valentine's Day, the storm will be dumping a significant amount of snow across the Northeast. With the storm and its snow to the east, a cold dome of high pressure will calm, but chill the majority of the Midwest. The frigid air blowing over the Great Lakes will send more bands of lake-effect snow downwind of the lakes.

This just in from my little neck of the Upstate NY woods: I have had to reassure a number of out-of-state family members that it's not all of Upstate that's up to its eyebrows in snow. Just a couple of counties way north, around Lake Ontario. In the Southern Tier, we've barely got enough to cover the grass.
That is all.

This is why, in April, I moved from NY to FL. While I wear short sleeves I'll think fondly of you all suffering in the snow.

My boys will help me shovel the walk, and my snowblower has been waiting to do the driveway for quite a while now. It's just itching to start up and blast that powder into the side yard.
Oh, and I almost forgot. All this cold snap is due to global warming, which is because I have five kids, and a snowblower, and an SUV, because I live in an evil capitalist country that doesn't care about the planet, because the Democrats haven't been in power for a while, because we are all greedy and evil... yea, I almost forgot.

We have plenty.
We're at the far side of a lake shore line county and get a fair amount of lake effect.
We've had 4 snow days off of school already. Daughter will be going to school till July if this keeps up!

Oh, that's right. It's Bush's fault. I did forget that.

We've had below normal temps since late January here in northern Alabama and the forecast is for it to remain (except for the next couple of days) for the rest of the month.
Yuck!
