You can get a simple extraction in the Philly area for 75$. You have to shop around but not that much. The antibiotic could cost more than the extraction if it is needed.

Oh, I don't know. I don't really blame them. After all, so many physicians are sued over so many things, I'd probably be afraid to try to make an original diagnosis if I were an M.D.

Especially if Hillary were president.

But I do credit our dentist with saving my wife's life.

I went from dentist to family doctor to the emergency room and back through the process several times....I had a tooth rotting under a crown....they started to treat me as if I was crazy.....the only doc who seemed to care was the ER doc who said I was SUFFERING REAL PAIN......when it turned out to be the tooth I got a new dentist.

the dentist removed the crown and he had to stand there and pick shards of rotting black tooth out of my gums.....I WILL NEVER forget the experience.......it lasted almost a year of agony off and on with no relief......

" The focus is on those who relieve her of responsibility in favor of government or "society."

LOL!!!! You crack me up!!!! Maybe you should become a comedian. I'm the last person who would be pro government. Personally, I think the government should stay out of EVERYONE'S business.

I’m a dentist and if a kid had an abcess like this one I would probably EXT. the tooth for free. Dentists don’t take M.A. for 2 reasons. #1 40 cents on the dollar for every procedure, so we lose money and materials. Remember unlike our M.D. counterparts we actually run a business, and don’t get Federal funding to so. #2 These patients are the least compliant, don’t show up for appointments, and sue to get something for nothing. This is truely a sad case. I don’t know a dentist that wouldn’t bend over backwards for a child. It is too bad the mother didn’t bring the child in anywhere. Enough calls and someone would have taken care of the poor kid. I feel bad for the kids that have limited access to care.

Many oral surgeons do oncall in larger cities at the E.R.

Find a Doctor that has Care Credit. Many Dentists don’t do payment plans because well we are not a bank and have overhead to worry about. But Care Credit offers patients the option to pay for services over a year with no interest, or longer with interest. It is a good thing. The only catch is you have to have decent credit.

By the way less that 0.5% of the Medicaid distribution goes to pay for dental care. Less than a half percent. Dentists in my state have tried to levy a 2 cent tax on every can of soda to bring the reimbursment rate up to that of an insurance plan. The state has rejected everything. Dentists are trying but the states want to make money by setting up their own clinics at the TAX PAYERS expense. It is truely sad. Many young dentists would jump to see these patients if they brought the rates from 40 cents upto 75-80 cent on the dollar, but your State government usually doesn’t want that?? By the way the 2 cent tax would cost a lot less than these clinics they are building to see not only MA but private pay citizens.

Universal Healthcare will not work. Why do we want to make healthcare like the Europeans. Do we go to Europe for our healthcare. NO!! How many of them come here. A LOT!! Dentists are small businessmen and women. If states bring up the reimbursment rates things will get better atleast in the larger cities. But every year 4000 dentists retire and 3800 are coming out of school. Not many of these students are moving to smaller areas. Personally in a small town I could open up 7 days a week and not even take care of all the insurance patients that want to get into our practice, not to mention MA. Soon it will be a shortage for people with insurace as well!

Holy mackarel! Another "Woman Arrested for Petting Dog" story... This story is not complete without a detailed description of the family's income source and spending habit.
Fast food? Color TV? Cable service? Microwave oven? Game boy? $200 sneakers?

The story should have been: Mother arrested and jailed for neglect...

Don't rip some lady apart after her kid just died.

I don't care what the headline says.
This is not a story about a boy dying; it's a story about placing blame.

People are responding to that.
