Anna Nicole Smith 'Murder' Investigation Trudges Along

Some call it murder. However, don't expect the police to yet say they are investigating a murder of Anna Nicole Smith. That's quite standard and though they are not saying publicly their inquiries have become a murder investigation, it is now clear police are exploring whether the 39-year-old's shock death was anything but accidental. Officials from the Bahamas and from the United States are now combining efforts in the investigation.

A report from the Sunday Telegraph notes: Seminole Tribe police have met Broward County (Florida) prosecutors to assess whether they have sufficient grounds for search warrants to the computer files, The Miami Herald has learned. Smith's computers, removed from her home in the Bahamas following her death, could be a crucial element in the probe of the former Playmate's death.
Seminole police have the computers, but are concerned about examining them because it's not clear whether they were obtained legally.

Still caution is the word of the day for authorities. The Broward County State Attorney's spokesman Ron Ishoy says, "We are continuing to help law enforcement agencies and the medical examiner as they try and figure out the nature of this death. This is not a homicide investigation." Broward County's chief medical examiner Dr. Joshua Perper was scheduled to announce Smith's cause of death last week but was forced to delay his findings after new evidence was given to him by the Seminole tribal police.
Perper announced last week that he wasn't aware of any criminal probe into the model's passing, but he hoped to release his findings in the upcoming week.

Add to that, there is also a March 26 inquest scheduled in Nassau into the sudden death in September 2006 of her Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel. Last week, it was revealed that the Seminole police had two new pieces of evidence in the case that they wanted to explore, thus holding up the Broward medical examiner's final report on the case.
The former Playboy model was found dead in her suite at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on February 8. Smith is now buried next to her son Daniel in the Bahamas.

Over the past month, America has watched a soap opera unfold: the untimely death of former Playboy model and reality television star Anna Nicole Smith and the media circus surrounding the legal battle over her final resting place, custody of her daughter and, ultimately, a stake in the potential multimillion-dollar estate.
I was in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., when television stations interrupted their regular programs to report that the model had been found unconscious in her room at the nearby Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel. Within minutes of the announcement, my phone began ringing as friends across the country called for the latest updates.
I never saw Smith’s spreads in Playboy magazine and only remotely recall seeing the blurbs in the papers announcing the model’s 1994 marriage to octogenarian billionaire J. Howard Marshall. But, like many Americans, I did get sucked into her reality television show on E! Network.
Reality television was still in its infancy and it seemed obvious that the impact was lost on Smith, who appeared frequently to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs as she slurred her speech and stumbled around her multimillion-dollar Los Angeles mansion. Her life was dysfunctional and the daily dilemmas, like decorating her bedroom or going to an amusement park, almost pedantic; yet, America tuned in. Smith’s contributions to society were questionable (unless you were a heterosexual, middle-aged man who read Playboy) and she, like Paris Hilton and so many others today, had become famous for being famous.
As a gay man, I guess there was a natural attraction to Anna Nicole Smith. She was the personification of camp, from her clothes to the pink feathers that adorned the pillows in her pink bedroom. She was over the top without even realizing it(or maybe she did). She became a sharp-tongued drag queen every time she donned makeup. If you don’t believe me, just look at the hospital pictures after the birth of her daughter.
Anna’s body lay in the Broward County Morgue, just a few miles from my Fort Lauderdale condo, for three weeks as the courts struggled with the question of where she would be buried.
The court proceedings reinforced, once again, the case against cameras in courtrooms. The judge, a friend tells me, was a great guy who just got a little swept up in the drama. His “performance”—and it was—could not have helped his career. Then there was the mother, who turned out to be exactly what one would have expected from a small-town former sheriff’s deputy. Throw in the photographer ex-boyfriend with Hollywood good looks and the longtime lawyer, who obviously held a long crush on his employer, and well, you’ve got quite a cast of characters.
Finally the judge made his ruling and allowed Smith to be buried next to her son, Daniel, in the Bahamas. Within a day, the body was released and flown to Nassau for a Friday service that would draw thousands of curious tourists and Bahamians who found their tiny island nation under a global spotlight.
Whether it was fate or just plain serendipity, my boyfriend and I ended up in Nassau on Saturday morning, the day after pop culture icon Anna Nicole Smith was finally laid to rest.
On arrival in Nassau, we took a cab to the cemetery (the driver knew exactly where to go), hoping to get there early and avoid the crowds. After all, just a day before, throngs of fans, tourists and admirers had lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the spectacle.
As the cab pulled in to Lakeview Memorial Garden, we were shocked to discover an empty cemetery, save for two security guards dispatched to protect the still fresh pink roses piled on the site. Apparently, we were the first to visit her gravesite since the ceremonies the day before. Maybe we were the first eager homos to make the pilgrimage to Anna’s grave (assuming that queeny interior designer Bobby Trendy, the snake who dissed Anna Nicole in the media for the past three weeks, hadn’t attended in an effort to extend his five minutes of fame just a moment longer).
Fame apparently is fleeting and the armed guards at the gravesite barely batted an eye as we took photos and even climbed onto a nearby gazebo to get an aerial view.
Now that Anna Nicole has been laid to rest, I suspect she will finally rest in peace as the media circus turns its attention to the inevitable custody battle and Anna’s estate.
Anna Nicole was a stunning beauty who found her place in the pop culture of today. Now history will be the judge. In any case, for a moment, we had our brush with fame....

I hope Moe and Taz take notes because I truly think they had an affection for her. King and Brigitte had really only known Anna for a short time.

Camp:
camp has four meanings:
1. banality so extreme it is funny.
2. to talk in an affected nasal voice.
3. to mimic or exaggerate female mannerisms.
4. to use a sarcastic humour with gay references.
Whether one decides to affect camp behaviour is clearly a choice. This may be the root of the myth that homosexuality itself is a choice. You decide whether to act on your attractions, but you don't decide your attractions.
Why bother to camp? Why humiliate yourself with this degrading self-parody? It is frustrating for closeted gays to keep up the front of being heterosexual. Camping is a way to unwind and say, “F_ _k you world. I can do whatever I want.” Camping though is dangerous because it can end up giving away the closet gay. He may let loose an accidental campy expression or “fabulous” in straight company without thinking if he indulges in it in gay company.
Some out gays camp too, as a way of showing fearlessness, of thumbing their noses at gay bashers.

It's a sad day when a woman who has gone to such great lengths to destroy herself by following the tune of the drug-alluring Pied Piper is buried with such fanfare and prominence. What a fine message we send to our children and their children.
Anna Nicole Smith (christened Victoria Lynn) not only destroyed herself but managed to break the hearts of everyone who genuinely loved and cared for her welfare, especially her mother, Vergie.

But Seidlin asked Howard about drugs, money, and marriage. Howard said:
1. "He wasn't a Doctor" but "I've seen her a lot worse than that"
2. Wasn't making a penny BUT there was a corporation
3. "Anna wanted to get married but he didn't because it wouldn't look right." (So he decided that producing an illegitimate child WOULD look better)
I wonder if Howard asked her to abort the baby and/or was trying to make that happen via meds. Well, gosh golly, maybe God played a hand and we just didn't see it. Wonder what KE was prescribing at that time.

I agree with TrishSC's perspective. I think Larry did entertain a deal with Stern because it was not going well in the States. However, I don't think there is any deal now. I also agree that Stern is not gay.
That said, Trendy might the type who thinks ALL men are closet homo's..

No. They are two very distinctly different conditions. My brother has Chrohns. It is is considered an IBD (Intestinal Bowel DISEASE) I have IBS (Irritable Bowel SYNDROME). IBS is not a disease but a group of symptoms of a bowel not functioning correctly but science does not yet know why that happens.
The Chrohn's and IBS are not connected. IBS is not hereditary but Crohn's does have a hereditary component to it. It is prevalent amongst those of Jewish ancestry. BTW, my brother is not Jewish so it does afflict other nationalities, too but not as prevalently.
With IBS the colon looks perfectly normal in a colonoscopy but people with IBS find it difficult to eat many foods, in particular fats which cause the colon to be overstimulated in normal people but in those with IBS the colon goes completely haywire. The result is chronic diarrehea or constipation or sometimes both alternating. IBS can be controlled with a proper diet. With Chrohns medicine is required and sometimes surgery even to the point of removing the entire colon.

Larry's comment? I don't what that is but Jackie Hattan said it last night on one of those shows...possibly the one Geraldo ran but I'm not sure of that. Jackie said that Howard used to take ANS to gay bars all of the time. She was asked if that meant male gay bars (I guess versus lesbian gay bars) and Jackie said it was male gay bars.
He very well could have a colostomy bag depending on how advanced his Crohn's (if he has it) is. He also may be on steroids from time to time as prednisone is often prescribed to get and keep the Crohn's in remission.
BTW Jackie Hatten stated point blank that Stern is gay.
