Please enlighten me, under what circumstances would you consider this tirade appropriate for your 11 year old daughter? What could any child possibly do, even if she is coached by mom, where this would be a reasonable response? I can’t think of any instance where this is justified.

I can think of a couple.
* The daughter accidentally sets fire to someone else's home.
* Baldwin discovers that his daughter's doing her best to emulate Drew Barrymore at that age. (i.e. heavy drug use and drinking like a fish.)
* Baldwin discovers that his daughter is dating and is sexually active. (And yes, there are some sexually active 11 year olds.)
Is it likely that any of these are the case? Probably not. I'd say there's a 90% chance that Baldwin's over reacting to something minor. But there are some *very* messed up kids out there. And if Ireland is one of those kids, then Baldwin's tirade becomes much more understandable.
(But I'd bet the other way.)
