If that’s the case, then yes, I agree it’s a very inappropriate phone call. However, I think there’s more to the story than that. I’m imagining they got in a heated discussion/argument which embarrassed him to have to deal with - and then she may have hung up on him, when he called back and left that message. That’s the only way I can imagine him leaving that kind of message - unless he really is looney.
Given his past history (physical and verbal), and the things he’s said about anyone else he’s angry with, I’d lean toward him simply being looney. (Or being an a-hole, more appropriately put.)
Telling an 11-year-old — your daughter, no less — that she hasn’t got “brains” or “decency,” making extended threats that virtually anyone would interpret as physical, and closing it by repeatedly calling her — his 11-year-old daughter — a “pig”? Yeah, that requires some looney on behalf of a father.
You “imagine” wrong. The call makes it clear that she just didn’t answer the phone when he was supposed to call. Maybe her battery died. Maybe she forgot her phone. Maybe the ringer was off. Maybe she didn’t want to deal with her psycho father.
