What I didn’t mention was Roger’s set of rules that he dictates to his employer for who his team is 7-10 in the games that he starts. Now he’s going to create drama around his injuries so he can come back even bigger and better. Roger leaving meant Pedro Martinez came to the Sox and he put together a 7 year run that was outstanding. When PM came back to Fenway in 2006 he received much love. When Derek Lowe came back to Fenway for the WS ring ceremony he was cheered. Your generalization doesn’t hold.
At least Damon was honest about his intentions (even though at one time he said he wouldn’t play for NY) and frankly his leaving worked out better for the Sox. The Yankees now have a $13 million platoon player for the next two years and would dump him if they could find a taker. The Sox have a Gold Glove caliber center fielder for a lot less coin. The Sox were actually being overly generous with Damon in offering him $10 million for 4 years.
Most people who go to play for the Yankees, their next stop is Shady Green Retirement Home.
Well, here we go again. Yankees lose to Blue Jays to enter the series five games back in the loss column. Should be an interesting series.
